When I first got my phone I was able to charge it the first night, then at work the next day, when I went to charge it, it did not charge. When I got home I tried multiple chargers (including the one that came with it) and nothing worked. So I took it to verizon. They ended up giving me a brand new phone on the spot since it had only been 1 day since I had purchased it, because of that they were able to mark it DOA (Dead on arrival) which allowed them to give me a new one.. otherwise they would have had to send it in through warranty leaving me without a phone for a couple days.
But the steps they tried with mine were:
Try multiple chargers (even though I told them i did)
Tried a charger pack
Tried a new battery
Tried a factory reset
After all those they were able to determine it was the phone, so if you are able to try all those yourself you could either find something more about whats causing it or come to the same conclusion.
