Sorry. I had to.

I am coming from an HTC One (M7) and Galaxy S4. I loved the S4 until I broke the screen. The M7 is also a great phone. My only gripe about the M7 is the front speakers. I know that is one of the top two reasons to get that phone, but I just like the edge-to-edge screen of the other phones.

Ok, now today I am wanting to replace the M7 and the LG G3 and Galaxy S5 are at the top of my list. I have also been looking at the Oppo Find 7 and the One Plus One. It is hard to compare the last two since I can't just walk into store and test drive them.

I am very interested to hear how many of you were considering other phones and how did you land on the the LG G3. What other phones were you considering? Now that you have the LG, do you have any regrets?

Thanks

Well, from a hardware standpoint...it's hard not to be a little envious of the M8's build quality and design...but doesn't seem like that tickles your fancy :)

No other phone seemed to be as complete all around as the G3 but I wouldn't kick any of the phones you mentioned out of bed for eating crackers haha :D

Been really happy after about owning the G3 for about 3 weeks and I would highly recommend it but I can't really tell you that I wouldn't recommend those other phones. Also, the Note 4 should be a killer phone in another month or so...May want to hold off just to see what that brings before you choose.

I've had both the G3 & currently have the OPPO FIND 7.
The OF7 is superior, hardware-wise.
Another bonus:SIM unlocked & you're free to root/ROM w/o worry, as doing so doesn't void any warranties.
Very easy to ROOT & ROM, running CM 11,what an awesome 1-2 punch.
The OF7 is actually less expensive: $599 shipped to USA, no tax & free shipping, arrives in less than a week.(http://oppostyle.com)
Not here to bash the G3 or LG,as I've owned 5 devices of theirs this year, still have their GOOGLE TV SET, very nice.
Also thought the G2/FLEX/G-PAD 8.3 were awesome devices.
However, if you're looking for a long-term keeper, I have to give the nod to the OF7.

I owned the M8 for a week at launch, and returned it. I did not like the design, at all. Too tall, too heavy, too slick, too metal. I do not like metal phones, I see no advantage to it. There is a clear loss if signal strength on the M8, and I attribute that entirely to the metal as HTC phones otherwise get great reception.

I haven't regretted my G3 purchase for even a second since getting it.

Don't regret it one bit. It really is an all around fantastic phone. Best phone? Depends on who you ask because like another person said earlier, the other phones are great as well. And I have owned the galaxy s4 and the HTC M8. Personally I feel this is a well balanced phone, considering that this phone just came out and hasn't had any software update tweaks yet.

Though the negative is none of the phones cover all bases- especially for picky people like me, the positive is the G3, M8, N3 and S5 all have a lot of good points and reasons to pick em'.

I of course focus on the negatives ;) All are great if leaving a device from two years ago as many are. The glaring standout of the four devices for me is the S5 having only 10GB of usable storage and no option to move apps to sd. Very constrained situation if stuck for two years.

Even the N4 will probably be a bloated sensor loaded mess that is locked down hard.

My one shining hope in the distance is if the G3A is released in the US, since that seems the ticket for me. A better fit display for the chipset, better one hand use and LG usually has better radios than Samsung. Then a reason to bail from my S4 32GB :)

Added: Yes, I know it is probably doubtful the G3A leaves Asian markets.

LG G3 retail price is $599 through Sprint if you choose to go that route, just an fyi.

You must have had either a bad phone or a problem with the release firmware.

Many of us have reported improved radio performance with the M8 over other models.

Nothing personal, but I wish that the "metal hurts reception" meme would just die. Metal has been around since Windows phones but now, it's news. :D

We can argue that elsewhere my friend, or not as you prefer. :)

But - despite the title, the question from the OP is opposite - it's why choose this phone over other flagships.

And we have a thread for that -

http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=861348

Before confusion spreads and creates the apocalypse, I'm going to lock this one.

Drop me a line if that's a problem. :)
