Help Spyware on my friend's S3?

Silent Logger - spyware, Y/N?

I found it on a friend's phone while I was trying to help him out by clearing the cache on his apps to make some room, and poking at a few other things for him, and the level of permissions on this app are just... positively frightening. Should I suggest he try to find a way to get rid of it, or am I worrying over a benign app that won't do him any harm?

Hi kendermouse,

SilentLogging looks like it is a built-in application related to the modem settings. Its package name is "com.sec.modem.settings" and seems to appear on a lot of Samsung devices.

I don't know exactly what it does, but it doesn't sound like spyware or anything malicious.

I noticed a lot of stuff being updated and one that popped up was this "Silent Logger Surveillance Software" . I do not see it as an app on my phone. I looked it up on line and it looks like it is for computers and not for cell phones. I hope I am right. The software is $49.00 and has to be downloaded into a computer. I guess then you spy on your kids , wife etc. I do hope this is not downloaded into my Sam G5. At&t said that some of the apps that are on the phone have 3rd party companies pimpin out their goods. Anyone with any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.
