Anyone find an audio cable that actually works with the 3.5 mm jack?

Does this apply to headphones, as well, or just audio cables? I use Klipsch headphones with no issues and have also used an audio cable from a Logitech desktop speaker set and had no problem there, either.

If the headphones work, so should a cable. Only apparent reasons for failure are a bad cable, or high impedance from the cable (unlikely unless a really long cable).

OP may be best served to test same cables on another G3 to confirm a global issue.

Thanks for the responses. I have tried two different cables on two different G3's (my wife has one as well). The problems does not affect headphones but only connection 3.5 mm audio cables. The phone seems to differentiate between cables and headphones. Even with a line plugged firmly in, both phones continue to play through the phone's speaker. We are on Tmo.

I tried using a Radio Shack audio cable in my car today & no luck. It's worked fine with every other phone I've had. I guess I'll start shopping for a Bluetooth receiver to plug in to the jack in my car & stream over bluetooth. 😕

I have figured out that if the if the auxiliary jack has 2 colored rings, the phone acts up. If it has 3 colored rings like most headphones or ear buds the phone works well.

two rings is straight stereo, three is headphones /w mic

Both work fine for me.

Make sure you push it ALL the way in though. I've noticed it's easy to push part way and think its all the way in... That's does produce some godawful static...

The phone definitely differentiates between headphone and cable. I have an audio cable which connects to my factory car stereo. When I plug it in my phone (for the times it chooses to work) there's a completely different symbol in my status bar than when I plug in my headphones.

I too struggle to get it to acknowledge the audio cable has been plugged in. I can find no consistencies yet why it sometimes doesn't work.
