Rooted, stock kitkat rom. If my phone has sit for more than a few minutes, every time i unlock the phone it is super sluggish. I have a few widgets and folders for my apps. Whenever i unlock the phone none of the widgets are loaded and if i scroll the screen towards my folders the phone locks up for almost 10 seconds before i can do anything. This is getting a little ridiculous.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this or an app to speed up my phone? Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe add wakelock detector to your arsenal too. It shows awake vs sleep and the wakelocks that might be causing problems, if any.

Then Greenify, if you need to force the issue of forcing hibernation.

Those are the 2 primary apps I use to monitor and adjust my system along with Titanium Backup to freeze all thing bloat and unnecessary. I did have one issue recently that I couldn't pin down even with all those in place. It was a system process which I couldn't identify. I was still on JB due to being lazy so I finally took the leap of tot'ing back to stock and then moved on to KitKat. Ever since, all has been well. Mine wasn't super laggy but there was some lag. I was more so experiencing a high rate of battery drain which is now gone.

So far things have been running more smoothly. I found deleting all my widgets have helped significantly. There are still those times when my phone will hang for no reason unrelated to any app. I suppose it's when I have been using it and the phone gets a little warm, then I try to do something else and it gets sluggish.

Yes clean master has been very helpful. Wake lock detector really isn't showing much aside from power management. Widgets are slowing down my phone. My weather channel widget was using 20% of my cpu which is insane. I've noticed that my folders are adding to the sluggishness. Which is weird because they're a phone feature not an app. I may try adding more home screens and just placing apps there.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to screen real estate. I like to keep it simple. Here's my second screen with all my folders.
