Note 3 vs ... Kindle?

OK I know it's a ridiculous comparison. I currently have an S3 and use Kindle Fire for reading books (I use Moon+). The S3 is just too small for my reading comfort. But I'm due for an upgrade and getting tired of carrying 2 devices plus a laptop.

Question is, how is the Note 3 for reading books? Any reason why I should wait for the N4?

I have both and no longer carry my kindle...the note 3 is quite easy to read on. Like you I was just tired of carrying duplicate devices. If I were going to get another kindle I would get the paper white for ease of reading outdoors while on vacation etc...idealy someone should create a tablet or phone that is capable of having both screens... one on front one on back...this would be an ideal device for using outdoors in sunny conditions when you can not see the hd screen on your phone.

I don't really have a need to read outside and I won't be getting another Kindle, that's for sure. I hate the separation between Amazon Store and Google Play. I love Amazon but I just hate their attempt to keep you inside their little market with Kindle.

I have a Note 3 and it's now my primarily e-book reader, after the iPad. In fact, I think I read all books on it, now. I didn't have the Kindle Fire but my husband has one, and he's a luddite so I've always been the one to load books on it for him, and I would load a few for myself on it as well, and while it's fine to read books on (since that's what it's made for), the Note 3 is just as good (in my opinion).

However, since the Note 4 will be here in a couple of days (or what will have seemed like a couple of days by the time it's launched), I'd just hold out for it, to be honest.

Good to know. What do you use for your e-reader?

Reading mode has been around since the S3. It just eases up on the brighter than the sun of AMOLED. For some reason AMOLED screens are too bright even with them dimmed all the way down. My eyes are sensitive. So the whole complaint about them being too dim just doesn't hold for me. Reading mode also tunes the colors as well, although I keep mine on 'adapt display'
