I've read that MacAfee is preinstalled on my LG G3. I cannot find it in the apps and have not noticed any type of virus scans occuring. Can anyone tell me where I can find it? That being said, I am on a limited data package (2GB) and am wondering that if I do have the choice of using it or not, should I, as will it incur a lot of data usage? Does it have the ability to run only over WiFi when I choose? I have MacAfee on my lap top and it is continuously running and has slowed down my computer noticeably. On my prior phones I ran an antivirus, but not MacAfee. Any help is appreciated.

There are tons of articles on the internet regarding LG partnering with McAfee and they indicate all g3s after May 28th will come pre-installed with McAfee mobile security that includes a new anti theft feature. A prompt for this mobile security also popped up for me to accept when I initially started up the phone but I didn't accept it because I didn't know how out would impact my data use.

I guess the issue is that you're not getting a prompt to install the app because you declined it when you first got the phone?

I'm in the UK and McAfee was pre-installed on my G3. It doesn't consume any mobile data at all, and this is what I would have expected - it will have occasional updates, as does any app, but I do this over WiFi. A big plus for me is that the phone locator is, apparently, protected against factory resets and all the other common things that thieves do to phones to overcome theft protection schemes. I just hope I never have to put it to the test!

Have you had a look at the following website: https://lge.mcafeemobilesecurity.com/

If nothing else, you can contact their technical support for help.

Johns, thanks for the info. Technically I didn't decline it, I just backed out of it but that must have been treated just like declining it. I like the phone locater ability also just wasn't sure about the whole MacAfee security system and how much I could control what it scanned and when. I'm actually very surprised there weren't a lot more comments to this thread. I will do as you suggested and call the tech support.

John, again thanks for the info but my phone does not have the Update Center as indicated below.

Head into Settings > About phone > Update center > App updates

In reading the article you referenced I then also noticed I have no Downloads app, and the actual apps indicated on my screen are only about a dozen of the many apps loaded on the phone; using the app options doesn't offer any more. Not sure what is going on.

Nope. My Sprint version doesn't have it, thank God.

I got the VZW version and it is installed on there even though some think it's not. Verizon just cleverly repackaged it as there own and call it "verizon support & protection" but after opening it clearly states it McAfee. In my opinion though McAfee is virus in itself causing more problems than it is worth and slows your phone down. Best thing to do is root and remove.
