Good place for steaks?

I had a steak on a job this past December, that was eaily in my top 3 all time.

Moundsville, WV. I was working on a gas refinery for Williams Gas, and my Civil Engineering Inspection boss Brian made steaks for Christmas. I drooled on myself while eating. Very good steak.

Second place is a filet mignon at Carrabbas Italian Grille. Apex NC. Dynamite!! :D

I'm guessing "a farm" isnt a good answer ...
It was for me! When I lived on the farm, I could have steak for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and they were awesome!

The local restaurant that gets the best meat and knows how to cook it right is your best bet. Of course that requires a lot of research. :D

IME Ruth's Chris is a pretty decent chain. I give it three belt notches.:thumbup::thumbup:

Hmmm, I was going there, in my area, last month for my birthday but a heavy snowfall stopped us from going. I've never been and was looking foward to it. Maybe I can talk the wife into taking me sometime soon!

We like to goto The Best SteakHouse from time to time in Midtown section.

I would say:
Go to a nice grocery store and pick up some nice, thick ribeye steaks. Look for good marbling. Go for Prime and Dry-aged if you can find it, but choice will also do.

Get your cast iron pan going on some very high heat, sear your steak. It should need nothing but salt and pepper, and it'll be the best steak if you've ever had, if you know how to do it properly :)

It would help though if we knew where you were to suggest a restaurant!

What part of America? There may be one off restaurants that will be better than chains, or regional chains.

Yea, I live in Washington state area, not many farm places I could go like some of you have suggested...probably some steakhouse? Does anyone has a favor in certain chain place?

If there isn't a local steakhouse that makes a good steak, try Ruth's Chris. I don't know if they are all good seeing as I've only ever eaten at the original in New Orleans, but I've always had good luck with that one. Morton's also makes a decent steak. Personally I prefer cooking them at home. Most restaurants overcook my steak, when I tell them I want it rare, I mean, I want it at the lowest temp you can legally serve it to me.

Sounds like my wife. She wants her steak to look at the flame in fear then be put on the plate.

+1 on Morton's and I've had it with Ruth's Chris. I've been to quite a few, not the one in the Big Easy though, and I found them basically pretentious.

I agree with you on the rare side. It's the only way.
