Recommend a new car holder?

Hi

Can anyone recommend a really good new phone holder for my car's dasboard? (for my Note 3)

Background
I have been using the "iBOLT xProDock Window/Dash Kit for Samsung Samrtphones" for the last 14 months or so. Until now had been extremely pleased with it because:

a) it gripped extremely well on to a tricky rough surface (Honda Accord dash)

b) it had very wide jaws that would seem to accommodate any phone

c) you could change the direction it pointed in fairly easily (e.g. to show
phone to passenger)

d) I could insert it with one hand (required some skill though!)

BUT today even though I had never forced the device, the main spring that controls the jaws of the device, broke without warning.

Don't you just hate things that are not designed to last! Particularly as this device was not cheap (GBP 45.90!) on Amazon...

- Any suggestions?

P.S. It would be nice if my new phone holder also had a built in charging connection for the Note 3...

iBolt won't send you a new spring?

First thing I'd do is try to ask iBolt to replace it. If not possible, then my recommendation would be based on what is more important to you.

If you're looking for a charger that would charge at the same rate as the iBolt, then I'd say it's still likely one of the better docks out there (especially the way that the charging port is set up).

If you're looking for a "dock and go" option and you have wireless charging (but you're not overly concerned about the charger only being able to give a trickle charge/prevent fast drain, while using nav), I'd recommend a wireless charging dock. This is one I purchased recently (my original wireless charging dock had similar problem as your iBolt...broken spring):

I've been very pleased with this one (I have a black one). If you're not in a rush, you can also purchase from Sunsky, for a few dollars less. This is just a deal that came up when I went to amazon right now.

I've been using the iOttie since the first of the year and I love it. It hugs the dash in my Prius (rough surface) and has held through the summer heat. I'm not sure how easy it would be to show to your passenger (I have a dash hump in the way of turning it. It would fit all your other criteria.

If you don't mind spending a little money on a solid dock, I highly recommend 1st, purchasing a ProClip base mount (car specific) and some people seem to like the cradles they offer as well, which can be attached to the ProClip Base.

First enter your vehicle, to see what positions are available for your car:

I absolutely vouch for the ProClip car specific base mounts. They are well worth the money.

I have the ExoMount CD slot mount and happy with it. With a case on it is snug, but still fairly secure and keeps the mammoth off of my dash which I want.

They have dash mounts as well that are highly reagarded.
