Ask me anything about the Motorola DROID MAXX!

You can't uninstall but you can uninstall updates and then have it re-update from the play store.

It may be the Google search OK Google detection in all apps blocking use of the microphone. So, go into the Google app. Scroll to the bottom, tap the three dot menu control on the bottom right, tap settings, voice, OK Google detection, and turn off all of the items that might be on. It's possible that will fix it without uninstalling the update, etc.

I agree with Doogald, regarding turning off the Google Voice commands, except I seem to be able to leave the one about "OK Google Now on Google Search" checked. Otherwise, I get no response if the other two options are checked...it just keeps waiting for a command, even though I am speaking.

Also, I find automobile background sound (road, radio or A/C fan noise) will cause voice reading problems.

I've change g-mail accounts. How do I get rid of the old and replace it with the new?

After adding the new account with settings / add account, you can tap settings / google, tap the name of the old account, tap the three dot menu control on the top right, and choose "remove account" from the menu that pops up.

I thought that the first account that was added to an android phone cannot be removed, but I just noticed that this command was exposed for my account, so give it a try.

how is your call quality with both speaker and earpiece? at some times it sounds like my speaker and earpiece are distorted. i notice this especially when i switch from earpiece to speaker. it starts out distorted and sometimes stays that way, and sometimes it seems like it is auto adjusting volume and goes clear and changes volume on its own. could it be something i am disabling or not setting correctly? i have heard there are issues with touchless controls and speaker volume. any thoughts?

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but. I had a razar and broke the screen. I just bought a new maxx. Can you tell me how to transfer my apps from the razar to the maxx?
Thanks Randy

When you sign into the Play Store it should install all of your apps. Also, using Motorola Migrate helps with a lot of that as well. If you are asking about saving app data, other than connecting it to a phone and copying and pasting the files you want transferred I'm not sure.

Yes it is. When ever I try to watch a video especially from YouTube, my video looks like it is all sliced ,like someone chest is at the top of the screen, their eyes would be next on the screen underneath that, their head would be next. Kind of like a jumble puzzle. it just looks all sliced up and the bottom is a dark gray you can't even hardly see the video at all. it just started that a couple days ago I just don't know what it is. Is there anyway you can help me?

YouTube does it everytime I try to view a video from Facebook or actually from YouTube in general. Do you need a specific URL? I have seen what appears to be the same problem in a couple different posts here just different words. and of course I cannot locate any of the posts to look at the solutions that were given. I am sorry to be such a novice! Thank you very much.

Ok I been researching for the past 2 weeks on how (if possible) to use a Droid Maxx (Verizion) on MetroPCS (TMobile) carrier. And so far I keep slamming into walls! Ive read threads after threads, Looked into sites after sites and it has left me more confused than ever. Now Im not dumber than a boot when it comes to smart phones and their technology but yet, Im not a whiz either! LOL So here it is:
Can a Droid Maxx be changed over to MetroPCS (Tmobile) and if so HOW?? Ive read that the Droid Maxx is already unlocked to begin with. Is this true? Also, I already have a Nano SIM card that I cut from a Micro SIM from Metropcs. Whats next? Should the phone be rooted as well?? Again, is there a link that someone can send me that gives step by step to flash a DROID MAXX to Metropcs.....Thanks again!

Someone, Please Help!! I would greatly appreciate it!

I can only answer a few of these questions.

Ive read that the Droid Maxx is already unlocked to begin with. Is this true?

Yes, you can put in any SIM and it will not be locked out.

And if Im able to make this switch, what features would I be risking not to work (if any)? Note:Keep it mind, for those that don't know, MetroPCS had merged over to Tmobile systems.

I don't know for sure. As a global phone, the Maxx should have all gsm bands that you need, but I'm not sure what MetroPCS uses for 3G or 4G, so you may be edge speed, or HSPA, and not HSPA+ or LTE.

I've also read that the Maxx has a weird radio with T-Mobile that, if it does work on LTE, it will not then do voice calls, or SMS, or something. There is an LTE On/Off app in the Play Store so you may be best off turning off LTE and setting it to WCDMA preferred in the app LTE On/Off (though I could be wrong about that....)

Ok ,let me start out by saying I apologize for giving you the wrong information, I'm not sure if it even makes a difference but I do not have a droid Maxx I have a droid ultra. Can anyone tell me how to get my text messages from my phone to my lap top, more specific to my external hard drive. But I figure if I can get them to my lap top I can get them from my lap top to my external hard drive. thank you very much in advance.

Hi, I've been thinking about getting a Droid Maxx but was wondering if it were possible to swap or switch the back position to the right side? Its not the end if the world for me but it doesn't make sense to have it on the left if you're right handed. I know the LG G3 can do this, just wondering if the Maxx can?

Shy of being rooted, I do not believe you can do what you're looking to do.

Just something to think about, while the Droid Maxx is still (IMHO) the best phone on the market today, the new Droid Turbo is about to be announced. If I were you, I would sit tight and see what that has to offer. It's looking like it will be awesome.

Oh yeah, if that's your situation, I wouldn't hesitate to get the Maxx. Still don't think you can do that swap you were talking about though. I'm a leftie and it really doesn't bother me, but that's me.

Go into a store and play with one. The thing that still amazes me is how fast, fluid and solid the OS. And I run Nova Launcher, not the stock Moto one.
