I'm a tad nervous about accidental screen presses which I've already mentioned, but has anyone wondered how durable the Edge of that screen is? I've dropped my Note 3 plenty of times but the screen never cracked and I've attributed that - at least in part - to the plastic edges and corners shouldering their share of the punishment.

So what happens when you drop the Galaxy Note Edge directly on its Edge screen?

Go naked. I haven't had a screen "protector" since my Imagio.

Can't go naked as I've managed to scratch tempered glass screens with a 9H rating. Yeah, my work and environment I'm in sometimes is not healthy for a naked screen. And I have plenty of gravel roads and parks I travel to. I'm sure you'd have a heart attack if you dropped your phone face down on that.

I can definitely appreciate taking preventive measures to protect the screen, more so for this phone than anything else out there, for obvious reasons.

With that said,I despise screen protectors of any sort,so,for myself, that option is off the table.

    As for a case,should I get this phone,again,I'll be taking a pass.
Reason being this phone is just shy of 3.25" wide,a bit of a stretch already for my grip.I have a relatively low-profile TPU case on my N1,which is identical in width,& I'm maxed out on the comfort level when using the case.

Soooooo, the only viable option for any sort of protection for my use will be a vertical pocket pouch.

I have a found an article on ZD net that states that the Note Edge is in fact drop proof. How much we'll have to wait and see.

    The article says:
"On the right side of the Galaxy Note Edge, you can see a concave metal frame, when the device falls down to ground, the device is manufactured to hit the metal frame first," Kim Gae-youn, a senior executive of Samsung wireless division, said at a press conference for South Korean journalists after the company's Unpacked event in Berlin.

LOL. Nothing's drop proof in my eyes. All it takes is that one unfortunate drop to end the device. Dropping it on a smooth paved road is going to be different compared to an unfinished dirt/gravel road. Of course, it'll be dependent on the environment and circumstance it's in at the time it's dropped.

I wonder if any manufacturer will attempt making a tempered glass protector for this. It might be a challenge with the curved screen.

Drop Proof?!?! it will suspend in the air if I drop it????:D

I'd love to believe there would be limited break-age but I'll at least have a minimum case I think in case of drops.

I can tell you with absolute certainty there is nothing drop proof, I have seen it all

G'zone series with cracked screens and all that (yes, the flip phone too)

with a device as complex and expensive as one in the note series I think not putting tempered glass on it is a poor choice. small investment with a potentially enormous return

Really depends on the person. I've constantly carried a phone/PDA with me- all the way back to the original Pilot 1000. Barely a scratch on any of them...and nothing you'd notice without looking real close. I don't feel like I go out of my way to keep them pristine, it just happens. I have a friend who breaks everything. I wouldn't describe him as careless, but the evidence says otherwise ;)
