I've been through all the supposed fixes for the storage shortage problem with this device. There are so many varied ways put forth but in the end none of them actually do what we truly need done.
I still cannot avoid getting the error message about insufficient memory to install and or back up certain apps. I can't even move any apps to the sd card using Apps2sd. It has only allowed me to move 2 of my apps over and my sd card has over 14gb of room available, yet every time I attempt to move an app over I get the no storage room to move app.

I know that there will always be some who say they don't encounter this problem, but I also know that those of us who cannot find sufficient storage space to move and or install, backup apps are the majority here. I only wish that someone could actually map out exactly how this device utilizes its settings to allow movement of apps and other memory using functions. For me just when it looks like I've gotten a handle on how this phone interprets commands and how it is set up, it will disallow a move that should be allowed.

All that is needed is for someone to find a reliable way to change the command structure so that we can write to the actual sd card directly and force the apps to be downloaded to there instead of to the false sd card that is only the built in memory that is far too low for any of us to make total use of this device. I know I'm rambling here but I'm so ****** frustrated with this phone not allowing me to do what we expect a "smart" phone to allow us to do. So please can someone write or build a command executable script (if that is what is needed) that will override the existing one that blocks us from enjoying this phone the way it should be used.

I don't have that problem, weird...some of us have a bunch of different problems than others, me I don't have any at the moment but that's odd...

Hey there biggiephil. I'm hoping to get this set up fixed once and for all. I've tried so many variations from sd fix to several other apps supposed to accomplish overriding the internal storage to post to the external sd card.

Well I've got someone offering to help so I'm going to follow their set up guidelines and see how it comes out.

I also have an angel on the forums who is sending me a hard drive so I can finally get my system back up and running windows7. Can't wait to be able to have a fully functional computer again.

I went ahead and unlinked everything from links2sd+, folder mount, and apps2sd. When I was done I was getting the message that some things may no longer work because of shortage of available memory space. I then moved Player Pro 2.11GB and Es Explorer and Root Explorer with folder mount. the rest I moved over to the sd card using apps2sd and used links2sd+ to link every one of them to the external sd card as well.

Right now it looks like I'm doing fine with storage space, no error messages so far and I've moved everything one way or another to the external sd card without using any of the apps that were supposed to fix the problem of not writing to the external sd card instead of the internal one. None of those ever worked as advertised but following the advice from several of you on using links2sd, apps2sd and folder mount has worked.

I just want to make sure I give thanks to all of you for your help and hopefully I'll be able to help the next person out as well.

I Had A Problem...When I Removed My Sd Some Of My Apps I Had Linked to Link2sd and Foldermount had disappeared...Has Anybody Had This Problem?
Obviously. You have your app data moved to your sd card with the apps you mentioned, and then you removed the sd card.
Naturally anything you have linked or you moved will not work until you put the memory card back in and reboot.

Actually the sdfix apps are supposed to change the permissions of the external SD from read only to read/write so apps can write to the external sdcard, they don't move they apps to the sdcard

I know on the optimus l9 there is a build. prop edit to remove the sd emulation which is what is keeping you from moving apps to SD card through normal system settings. Not sure if it will work on this phone. The wife just got one and she won't let me play with it.

Well I took a loot at the mods and it's definitely not just a build.prop mod.

It actually modifies framework. There's an xml in it called storage_lists that it modifies, I havent tried to decompile to actually look it at it, it also modifies vold.fstab.
If I get more time I'll have a closer look and see if I can't port this mod.
It looks interesting and like it could easily port.

I might just contact the dev and see if I can get him to help.

I'm not even sure if we could even flash the zip and just modify the build.prop, since it appears that's exactly what some people were doing.

Hey Bart. I have never been able to straight move apps to the external SD. What has worked is linking to SD. It works every time, and for those large game apps you might have, try apps2sd. I have heard that's good, however I have not used it.

App2sd sends it to the internal emulated SD card, correct? Assuming the data or android fokder is not linked with folder mount?

Also someone mentioned elsewhere that I can't use folder mount to mount the internal SD card as the real external SD, but when I tried to mount the internal SD card/android folder to the external SD card, it warned me that I shouldn't do this, but to link the folders under android. So I suppose that the system has a hard reference to sdcard/android and sdcard/data and that's why they can't be moved?

I still can't determine why certain apps just will not be allowed to move to the external sd card. I get the same insufficient storage space message on certain updates also.

Does anyone know what it is about certain apps that make them ineligible to be moved to the sd card? One of the ones for me is Root Explorer paid version. I can't seem to get it to move and there isn't anything I can see that makes this happen.

If someone can figure what causes the refusal then we may be able to find a way to get around it. I don't know enough to dissect the apps to determine where the block gets initiated from.

The app developer (As far as I know) has to specify in the manifest if it can be moved to sd.

Edit: Why don't you move it to /system?
