Whenever I've played with a Moto X I've thought to myself "this feels nice in my hand, but... it would feel better if it was just a little bigger."

A lot of the online community has been vocally disappointed about the increased size (some more intensely than others) despite many of the hands on impressions being quite positive.

I won't know for sure until its in my hands, but I'm happy about the increased size. I would have actually figured 5" to be the sweet spot, but I'm not troubled by the 5.2".

The only thing I'm genuinely disappointed by is the storage space options. I've had 16gb, and never again will I accept that. 32gb is the bottom end of what I'll accept. But you'd think Motorola would know I and many others would happily pay a premium for 64gb or 128gb. Even still, I'm fairly positive this will be my next phone.

The battery I'm less directly concerned about. Its smaller than I would like it to be, no doubt, but at the same time, I've heard Moto X owners complain about battery life a lot less than Samsung S4, HTC One (m7 at least) or iphone owners.

Absolutely. I had a Moto X to replace Droid Razr MAXX...the X was basically same screen size, but felt almost lost, even in my little hand. It was beautiful, but for the 10 days I kept it, constantly in my mind was, "damn, I wish this screen was bigger, my eyes are getting older." Well that and, "what were they thinking with this teeny battery?, and A micro SD slot would have been great."
I'll see what the new one feels like in hand... I suspect what will go through my mind will be, "Much better...but what were they THINKING with this teeny battery?!"

Any chance of a MAXX version?

I'll be getting the moto x with a beautiful mahogany back as soon as I can. My current x is 16 GB and I don't come close to filling it up, so the size options are fine for me and I don't miss having an SD card.

YMWV.

I do like the size of my X, one of the big reasons that a got it, but I'm willing to overlook a size increase for a pure android experience. Again, YMWV.

I'm not very fussy when it comes to devices or interacting with things, once the sum of the parts work out. The 1st gen Moto X felt great, but I've always enjoyed a bigger display, all the same.

I'm sure the 2nd gen will feel nice, too, so I'm looking forward to more screen real-estate.

With all the cloud base things that are out there i just dont get why we need so much storage on a phone. I have a 32 now and dont even come close to using it. i could of gotten 16 and probably be fine. i just like having the little extra so it does not slow down. 64 to me is just way too much. no need in spending that extra money on something i wont use.

Where I travel, we're out of cell coverage a lot... yes if you stick in a metro area and know the net will always be there... 32 may fly but for a lot of us, that doesn't work. Also if you use a lot of custom apps, esp if you have to carry around the apps' database it's way easy to run out of app space way soon. Without a SD, 64g would be nice insurance.
