Which is the best calendar app?

If you don't mind an ugly UI and a steep learning curve... Pimlical.

It is not an easy app to use and the preferences can be overwhelming. One does need to take the time to learn it. It actually has an online manual to explain certain things. It also has a widget and desktop companion, but these are separate purchases.

It's pricey, but the proceeds go to gorilla conservation.

Sunrise is, IMO, the best 3rd party calendar app unless you need something quite specific.

S Planner: Transitions are too slow, Interface is unnecessarily cluttered, and it lacks support for Recurring Tasks (and no Google Task support). But very useful with the way you can write on it with the S Pen, among other things. I like it, other than those issues, and since I hate loading my device up with redundant/duplicative apps I stick to it.

The Task App in HTC Sense is one app that I wish Samsung would literally clone and put up on Samsung Apps/Play Store. That one area of oversight for a device that is supposed to be so focused on business/pro use is unforgiveable...

I use S-Planner in combination with Calendar Snooze. Only thing I absolutely detest about Samsung's calendars is, there's no way to turn off the calendar reminders from waking up the device. That's where Calendar Snooze comes into play because it has a setting that prevents the phone from waking up.

I typically have calendar reminders that I only want to show up in my notification bar and can't stand when a calendar reminder wakes up my phone, while it's in my pocket, and when I go to get my phone, it all of a sudden has a calendar event open with a bunch of different changes that were made in pocket.

Side Note - That's also what I absolutely detest about Samsung's SMS setup. Every text message wakes up the freaking phone. Thankfully, SMS Popup prevents phone wakeup.

I don't mind the wake up. I do mind how it turns a text with an emoji in it into an MMS.

Anyone have a GS5 can confirm if that still happens? If it does on that phone it will on the Note 4 and I'm going to avoid it for that one reason cause my reception here men as using emoji = failed text messages.

honestly I use the stock calendar from the note 3 - I like it mostly.

but I use Smooth Calendar widget with it. so the widget is clean and pretty (transparent background is awesome)

but I touch it and go to a full up calendar - all my items sync correctly, easy to input new items etc etc.

and being stock calendar - I can split window it with other things.

I use Samsung Calendar as well and also use it with Android Pro Widgets (customized transparent widget) w/ scrolling agenda view, so very similar situation for me.

For those of you using Smooth Calender widget on your Homescreen, try to put EEE dd MMM in "Date format"..
It will add weekday too, an that's pretty handy!

I wouldn't use it but a feature I think smooth calendar could use (call it a pro feature or something)

would be to have a larger widget and allow for week view or something akin to that. IE more than just 3 lines. say 10-12.

take up a screen. I know people that would use that

Maybe I purchased it back then, but the widget can be resized to every size. And you can add several widgets. You can then adjust span individually on each..and set at least 50 lines in full screen widget-size.

Apologies for hijacking this thread..
