yeah, and at that point you might as well keep it in airplane more until you want to change watch faces. That should drastically improve battery life. So, 36 hours of usage only as a watch. That's what I was hoping! thanks!
I had just killed my third pint of Oatmeal Yeti, so I forgot the moral of the story. With 18.5+ hours with Ambient Off, I will definitely be keeping Ambient On unless I know that I will have a longer than normal day (I.e. early flight out, late night out, etc)Alright folks, 10:25pm. 29% remaining with Ambient OFF. Compared to 6% with Ambient ON, and I've had a relatively busy night with 18 incoming text messages since 7pm and 8 incoming calls. Plenty of other notifications as well.

So I've had my watch since Sunday but I was hiding the charger in my home office since i didn't want the wife to find out I bought it. Walked around for 2 days without her noticing but then she did... as my father once told me "its better to ask for forgiveness than permission". Truer words never spoken.
Anyways the point of that story was that now the charger sits bedside, upstairs and not in my office. So yesterday the watch was on my wrist all day.
I had it on from about 7AM until 10PM. Ambient mode off. Auto brightness. I had Gobsmacks of notifications from Hangouts, Touchdown, Gmail, IRCcloud. Plus I used the countdown timer functions and responded to about 50 text messages via voice response.
I had 33% battery life left on my watch when I put it on the charger. After 15 hours, I had about 7.5 hours left, for a total of more than 22 hours.
By the way, I've trained my arm in the motion it takes to trigger the screen on. Its a twist with a bit of elevation. I can get the screen to come on just moving my wrist 100% of the time.
I apologize, is that with Ambient on, or am I misunderstanding? Is ambient when the watch doesn't actually go black, it just stays on dim?

Ambient mode the screen stays dim. If ambient is off, the screen actually turns off and reactivates when you do the gesture to wake it up or you tap the screen.
I've kept ambient off and trained my arm to wake it up as I mentioned above. Ambient mode == Battery Drain.
So I put my watch on at 7:36AM this morning. Normal use. Not too bad. A couple of text responses, a whole bunch of hangout messages and some meeting reminders.
Threw it on the charger just because I was curious at 3:47pm.
72%
I was expecting less than that honestly. I actually laughed out loud when I saw the number.
Oh I've used that reply function all day long. I think the wait period for you to start talking is too short and you have to adjust a little to that.
You know a nit picky thing I don't like that it doesn't do? Capitalize your first word in a text message.
Oh, that will need to be fixed, haha. I cannot stand that as silly as that sounds. That's an update thing, right? And is the speech to text accurate?
Yeah, hopefully 2.0 (which BGR reported as being released 10/15) will solve little stuff like that.
The speech recognition is quite good. A buddy of mine just ordered his iPhone6 in gold (don't hold it against him, he's a good guy otherwise) and I texted him via voice and said, "You'll look very gangsta" and it did it correctly.
