So i'm a big cartoon guy and I wanna watch them on my phone. I get some mp4 files and they dont play in the built in player. So I go onto the market and I have the same problem with a lot of players. But I got MX player and it was so close. The audio would play great but the video would lag HUGELY! I just wanted to watch cartoons. Help please.

If videos won't stop buffering it's probably an underpowered phone problem. I could never get a video to play on my Hydro.

Try changing MX player to hardware decoding.
Once the video starts, you should see "SW" in the top right. Tap it and select "HW"
I have a similar problem with some videos appearing to play in slow-mo. Hardware decoding fixes it, for my phone.

When you got the MX player did you also install the latest codecs for it.I use from time to time and have no problems with videos on my old Galaxy Ace.
Also once installed and updated switch the phone off for a minute and re-boot and see if that helps.Sometimes badly written apps can leave,"Wave Locks" e.g improperly shut down programs.

Yeah I am running an Ace i and MX player (with the codec it asked me for) and all vids are playing smoothly. I am playing avi flv and mp4 on it. With the VLC player it was choppy as hell. I am running it with fairly minimum apps though - rooted and stuff like Facebook uninstalled via Titanium.

MXplayer is really good. They have a few days lag adjusting to major Android updates, always a relief when it works again.
