Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] No MMS on Cyanogenmod 11

Mms doesn't work , I went from newest #2 to newest cm11 and I couldn't get it to work at all, before the 4.3 update I used cm11 without problems .
Post as much info you can and maybe someone can figure this out.

I tried a few cm11 versions and modems its the same no mms
I went back to #2 and mms works fine

they may not have fixed it for the new bootloaders yet.. the guys with d2usc had the same issues when they had 4.3 update.. I assume your on the new na1 bootloader correct?

and I assume you did a full data wipe etc before flashing a cm based rom over tw right? :D

also have you tried the latest nightly? was released today lol

Fix for any ROM Download this mms_config.xml https://www.dropbox.com/s/ztfdpw2yle8norf/mms_config.xml copy aosp mms.apk to sd card download zarchiver from playstore open mms.apk with zarchiver click view go into res/xml click the + icon and add the mms_config.xml that u just downloaded. copy mms.apk back to system and reboot.

Credit goes to Get@Me who posted this on beanstalk ROM

That's as detailed as I know cause those where the exact instructions provided but do the steps there then I found root explorer works best to put it back in private app folder in system folder it asks you to remount and overwrite choose yes and just change permissions to rwrr that should b all you need if still can't get it to work let me know I'll go through the process on my phone again and see if I missed anything

just a heads up slimkat is a 4.4.2 stable build for our phone and its not unified build with nothing to fix MMS works on it only draw back is just the DPI being smaller and no theming as of now but they say they are working on a new one cause the T-Mobile version sucks according to them

Just an idea for u to try out

Not sure root explorer always asked to me to overwrite I know it took me a few tries to get it to work but it was only on the explorer part none seemed to want to copy and change permissions until I tried root explorer by I think speed software not sure about archive for to I never got errors there sorry
I'll see if I can tackle the process again later today just to reproduce it see if I run into errors

Update:

I downloaded latest cm-11 pulled the MMS downloaded zarchiver viewed MMS went to res/xml deleted old mms XML added new one and it didn't give me an error I can't run adding it private app folder due to slimkat already fixed MMS and don't want to mess anything up that isn't broken and don't have a backup of cm11 right now cause in thinking I may not change ROMs again

Finally got it to work. Did exactly what jahunt78 suggested and a few steps further by stopping the process grin running in App Manager then Force stopped it and uninstalled back to default messaging program then tested by sending a pic to myself and it worked. Thanks again fellas. Hope this helps.

Guys, I'm sorry.

It takes me DAYS to figure out what people are saying on this forum - I'm an old f*rt/guy/author/editor, and proper English is all I know/practice/use daily - I MEAN NO OFFENSE... please forgive me if that offends anyone - God knows I've learned SO much here in the last 4 years, and it means SO much to me! (THANK YOU SO MUCH LD, Shabby, PG, etc...! - including ALL OF YOU! ;) )

Problem for me is, as a writer, born and bred here (and an old one at that, lol), it takes me a quite a while to interpret the majority of what you guys are saying - the modern "slang" and "SMS language or textese" (also known as txt-speak, txtese, chatspeak, txt, txtspk, txtk, txto, texting language, txt lingo, SMSish, txtslang,or txt talk") many of you use, is an alien language to me, and to MOST people my age as well... :(

Again - please forgive me if this offends anyone - I mean no offense. :)

But to answer the question of "What did you do? I too miss MMS messages...", or "so what did you do?"

I wish I could help - I tried MANY of the 'fixes' regarding the problem listed in this forum, and SOMETHING eventually worked. (I'm actually clueless at this point as to what specifically worked - given the time between then and now - I've forgotten, unfortunately... )
If the age-related "txtese" language barrier didn't exist between us, it would be much easier - for people my age, at least.
(I learned BASIC and DOS way back in the early 70's, so maybe there's hope for me yet. lol)

Language barrier or not, be it nationality, language, gender, or (in my case, age lol), I really appreciate you guys and all you've contributed over the years to making our Android experience MUCH better!

You guys are awesome. :)

(P.S. - I tried Vanir 4.4, AND #2 4.3... but no matter what ROM I use, I STILL have issues with sending long texts (a short text - one sentence or so - isn't a problem, and MMS seems to work so far)... but if it helps, I'm using the 3.0.101-lk-usc-tw-v4.0 droidwidz@vm #1 kernel... maybe THAT'S the problem?)
(using the NA1 Modem, if that makes a difference)

For the life of me, I can't imagine why it would/could make any difference on sending SMS/MMS, but... what do I know? lol

Again - Thanks guys!
