So I just got a used Commando to replace one my girlfriend lost a month or so ago, no i didnt have replacement insurance, whatever, she bought the replacement. Anyway I went over to the VZW corp store, got a new sim card & got it activated & everything was great, made a couple of calls, the clouds parted & the sun came out again finally, there was a circus parade outside the store, yadda yadda yadda.
Once I got home I plugged it into my computer to set up Verizon Cloud & the Upgrade Assistant Tool. Once the tool was installed & running, it gave notice that there was a software upgrade available. So i clicked the Upgrade icon and it began the update. After a minute or two the phone simply shut off and didnt turn back on.
Once I manually turned it back on, it booted to the setup wizard, which was already completed previously and I saw at the top of the screen the cell signal indicator showed that there was no signal and after choosing my language, on the Phone Activation screen, it says there is no service.
I reran the Upgrade Assistant tool and it is now saying there is no upgrade or repair, and my phone isnt even coming up on the list of devices, though my computer still recognizes it as the Casio Commando. Also, the Wifi will not turn on and the Data is on but has no connection. I also installed & ran the Upgrade Assistant on my friends' brand new laptop and it is also not recognizing my phone in the list of devices.
Went back to the VZW store and they couldnt do anything and suggested I return it to where ever I got it from. Of course, they've been pretty useless with actual technical issues for the past half decade.
So I've tried a couple of different hard reset methods, removing sim card & starting the phone up without it, etc, with no luck. I've been without a phone for about a week since my back up flip phone broke in half and if i have to send this thing back it'll be another week or two till I actually have an operable phone.
So, what are your thoughts and/or suggestions?
