Wife and I want to share our first Game experience

Just a little background about ourselves. We have never made an android game, or any game for that matter. Six months ago, we had an idea for a game and after sleepless nights of programming, art work design, looking for the perfect music and sfx, we released our first android game on the Google Play Market. It's been a rewarding experience and we would love to talk about it and share it with all of you guys. :):)

Please download and rate/comment if you guys enjoy it.
Thanks to code splice for letting us put links:

Please ask us more as we are eager to share our experience.

Thank you. We only used libgdx as our development framework. We really started from nothing. All I remembered from college was how to do a System.out.println We looked around online and saw that a lot of new game developers used libgdx to make their first game. We started watching a lot of youtube videos on java and libgdx and eventually had enough knowledge to start. :)

Like the game idea.. Fun if you can get the hang of it..

(Currently using a Metro LG F6 w/custom ROM and kernel on stock 12b firmware)

Problems I had with first attempts at playing this game:

Ads pop up between every other or every 3rd attempt. This is only a problem because they are very intrusive and pop up very quickly, sometimes before you have a chance to move your finger from the screen.

Some ads take you to their page even if (X) Is pushed. I was taken to the ad holders page even after the screen went back to the game screen on a few occasions.

Some ads black out the screen and become unresponsive, only hitting the back button can help this. Some of them were simple bottom screen ads with very low intrusion but cause the entire screen to turn black, and have no (Skip) or (X) on them. Those are the ones you have to back out of.

Tapping the screen sometimes has a delay, which this so far has been the only game that has presented this problem for me. I have played games that required more precise taps and it hasn't shown a problem with those. Although this may be related to the phone model and hardware so no worries. Not all phones are made for all games.

And finally, upon looking in the apps section of my phone when stopping the apps service, I noticed the cache had reached 18mb after only 5 minutes of play. The use of this much memory on a phone as limited as some of them out there, including my own, is not good. Shouldn't be a super big issue though. Again, not all phones are made for all games.

Aside from those little issues I had, which were mostly ad related, the game looks great and the idea behind it is fun.
Very nice work between you and your wife, especially for your first attempt.

I hope this minor assessment has been somewhat helpful.

Thanks BlackFlag, the ads was always an issue with us for awhile. At first we wanted a banner that would just stay on screen, but that took away some screen real estate for us so now the banners only appear when you die. Because of this, most of the time it won't even register as an impression as it's not even on screen so it feels a little useless to even have the banner ad now.

We originally had Google AdMob interstitials which I think was fine until they banned us all of a sudden so I don't think we can go back. The Google Ads were a lot simpler and I think it didn't take so much time to load and it didn't use too much resources as it was just a simple picture. It's a bit hard to replicate your issue with the ads. Is that phone related or internet speed related or is it just the ads itself? Honestly though, if I hadn't lost my job a month before we first released, I would have just loved to do this for fun and just not have ads at all. It's been sort of a hard decision as ads would bring us in some revenue but at the same time, we're not even earning much at the moment. Before our update and before the Google ban, the highest we earned was $25. Hard to even justify this as a living for a whole month.

As for the cache reaching 18MB, is that also phone related, or is there something that we can do to fix this? The oldest testing phone we have is an S3, but I'm not sure if it's comparable to your LG. We read that the trickiest thing about programming for android compared to an iOS was all the different hardware flavors of android.

Thank you though for doing this and not just leaving gibberish 1 star or a 1 star with no comment. It has been extremely informative. I really hope we can reach a broader audience.

I didn't leave a rating because I didn't want to give people the wrong idea. The game is good, just had issues with my phone and I surely don't want to give you and your wife a bad name with issues that were hardware related or other issues you had no control over.
My phone is in the lower end for specs but is custom so it runs a bit better then stock. The memory on this is very limited so the cache use is an issue that would have to be ironed before I could do a good enough test to give a Google play rating, but from what I see so far, it's definitely a good game.

Ads will always be an issue due to their not being written the cleanest mostly because ad companies don't care as long as they get space so it's not like it's directly related to the game structure.

I just mostly wanted you to know so you can possibly look into it.

I am sorry to hear about Google banning you. Please do not let this discourage you as you definitely have a knack for making games.

Also sorry about the work thing. I have been out of work for some time and am just now getting back so I know all about having to make the dollar stretch. Keep ya head up and keep putting those ideas to work for ya. :)
