Ordered 2 Moto X's for me and my wife...

Hopefully we are able to retain unlimited data through the "third party" method I have been following on Slick Deals. My main concern is root though. If we keep UDP, then I will likely need root to tether. If we lose UDP we will actually save money since we both use less than 2GB anyway...and we won't need root to tether.

Either way though, I really prefer having root so hopefully someone solves that pretty quickly.

Oh, I forgot to actually ask my question!!! Duh.

Are any new Moto X (2014) owners on unlimited data plans able to tether without root?

I ordered the 2nd gen Moto X through Moto Maker. It is going to be a beautiful device: Striped ebony back with red anodized accents and a black front, with the max of 32 gigs in the guts. From what I have been told, we can only get the 32 gig model from Moto Maker and I have suffered some delays in the build due to a late shipment of 32 gig supply. It was supposed to be here Oct 3rd, but has been delayed up to Oct 17th. I am going to wait.
I have been told that currently the 32 gig is not available in any stores and has to be ordered from Motorola if you want that option.
I seriously want my phone, but it is now in high demand so I just have to wait.
On the plus side, customer service had empathy for the delay and offered me $50 worth of accessories for free. I recieved my car charger and my bluetooth head set today. Actually makes up the cost of going from 16 to 32 gigs, so at the moment I am resonably content.
Every thing I have read about this phone makes it seem awesome. It will be a serious upgrade from my Moto RAZR flip phone, so you know the camera will not be an issue to me.
I am looking forward with great anticipation to it's arrival.
:)
