[Official] Version 1 battery life thread

First work day with my 360 and it got put through its paces as I received dozens of emails, countless texts, used the timer several times, tried out the map just to fiddle, changed watch faces, checked many Google cards, declined a couple of calls and so on.

15 hours plus off the charger and I'm currently at 42%.I imagine that remaining percentage will trickle down slowly as my notifications have slowed for the night.

I'm sure I'm not considered a power user (if they're is such a very thing for a watch) but I'm very pleased with my battery life.

Mine is pretty similar. Today was a message/notification heavy day, but I'm at 51% after 11 hours off charger. Definitely 20% more than it would have been prior to the update. On top of that, I was showing my homeboy/IT guy at work, how Android Wear works so much better than the Gear did (which he also used to have). He'll have his Moto 360 soon, so to be able to tell him that battery life is pretty much on par with that, he was happy to hear that.

It breaks in well too CBF. Give it a few days and it will improve.

In my experience, the most battery friendly face customization is Facer. I've not had luck with many of the other ones on the market. That will improve after the API is released from what I hear. Which actually should be soon if the rumor is true. I heard we were going to Android Wear 2.0 on the 15th of this month.

I'm hoping for Wear, Lollipop and Nexus(on Verizon, don't kill my dream!) on or around the 15th.

I'm noticing just a tad bit lag with people apps. Also, am I the only that swipes from left to right with my finger and nothing happens? Feels like you have to do a slow swipe on the left side then the watch realizes it to begin the closing of an app? Or maybe it's just a delay. You can't open/close then open/close a screen repeatedly with speed. Talking about anal....

What are you cleaning the screen with, a Snickers bar?!? j/k :p I've noticed a dirty screen seems to affect responsiveness.

my battery seems to be draining quickly, or quicker than I thought. I took it off the charger at 7:30 this morning and have read/sent 3 texts, looked at 2 emails and got 1 Twitter alert. It's at 60% right now (2:30). I've really barely used it at all today. I was playing with it a lot yesterday (got it Friday) so knew it would deplete fast but was expecting better life out of it today? At this rate it's going to be dead around 9 tonight, that's if I don't use it for anything. Is that about right?? You guys seem to be getting much better life.

Off charger at 8:30 a.m. today. It's about 12:30 a.m. (16 hours) and my 360 is at 41%. I've used one of the stock faces most of the day, although I did use one of the Facer faces for a couple of hours today. I'm tempted to leave it off charge tonight so that I could come here tomorrow morning and say "I made it more than 24 hours on one charge".

There's no point in that. All it would do is leave me with a dead watch tomorrow around mid-day. This is all that I could hope for in a watch that looks this nice, is this useful and now is this long-lasting.

Battery life for me has been excellent.

I charged mine Saturday morning, off the charger around 8am. Powered off at night, from around 11pm. Then same hours usage the next day without a charge.

That's roughly 30 hours of on wrist time, and it's now at 41%. I do like to keep the notifications to a minimum though, and am not running any custom faces just yet.

It updated as soon as I charged it. Ambient is off. I've only added a calculator and the Wear Mini-launcher.

It actually held out better than I thought it would, 19% when I put it on the charger around 11. I guess that's not horrible when all is said and done, I only got a few more notifications during the evening though. Useage was light. I'll see what today brings, maybe it's still in the 'breaking in' stage.

When you power off, does it stay completely off or turn back on at some point?

To add a datapoint, my battery has comfortably made it though every day except one - when I was running a watch face called "Speeds Watch Face". That really killed the battery. Uninstalled it.

The only battery friendly faces I've used is Facer. I read on BGR that 2.0 will bring the ability for developers to actually program new faces. What you're running now is essentially an app that displays a watch face.

Completely off. I go to Settings --> Power Off.

I used to do this with my Gear. Thanks for answering. Before your answer, I actually had to turn the power off on my 360 briefly and saw that it stayed off. What I might do from now on is charge right when I get home and as soon as it hits 100%, turn it off for the night (while home).

As much as I don't mind leaving it charging over night, every night, I want to preserve the amount of charge cycles as long as possible.

This is why I charge it only in the AM just as I rise. So, let's say it takes from 7AM to 8AM to charge, hits 100%, then it's on my wrist until 11PM. It sits idol on my nightstand from 11PM until I awake, has enough juice to get to the morning to repeat. But if you are not making it that full 24 hours, this method will not work for you.

I don't know if I'd make it that full 24 hours, but I wouldn't be surprised if I would make it. I might also try your method for charging (just charging when first waking up, while getting ready for work).

My main goal is to preserve as many of the charge cycles as possible. Considering it's a non-removable lithium ion battery and by comparison, standard smartphones have a 500 battery charge cycle, I'm guessing that the 360 would be less (although, not sure by how much or if that's accurate). Even though I'm already anticipating purchasing the 2nd or 3rd generation of the 360 (whenever that gets released, and hopefully without the ambient sensor, since all it has proven to be is a battery hog...unless they re-create it in a manner that'll allow a "true" 360 image), I want the watch battery to last as long as possible, prior to the charge cycle degradation.

Ideally, if I could have the battery last 36-48 hours (by turning the watch off, when at home), and then charge every other morning, while getting ready for work, that would be awesome. Only problem is, I can't see that happening, considering the amount of notifications I receive during the weekdays.
