Mine updated right out of the box to 4.4.4 but I got mine in canada. I think it still is the US version though. How can you tell which country version you have?
whats the model number of yours? Mine is the XT1021
There are two models in canada that I have seen but don't know what the difference is other than color there is the xt1021 which I have in black and the xt 1023 which I see in white in canada. I don't know if the only difference is color but it may effect the timing of updates.
I know mine never saw android 4.4.3 it updated straight from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 when shortly after I powered it on for the first time
Huh. Mine says XT-1023 and it's black. IIRC, I bought mine less than a month after Motorola released it. It also came with 4.4.2, but updated fairly soon to 4.4.3 and here it sits.
I am wondering if any of the moto E models will be getting L as of lately.
If not there are always roms like cyanogenmod 12 that will likely come to the moto E.
Last I checked motorolla stated the moto G, G LTE and G generation 2 were guaranteed the update to L but when asked about the moto E they didn't comment.
If it becomes confirmed that we aren't getting L I may wait around to see what the custom rom situation looks like then if that goes nowhere I will just sell my moto E and get a G generation 2 or G LTE. But Motorola did promise at launch that the E will get L they just haven't followed up. Hopefully we do get it though.
I really don't understand why some versions of the moto E are getting updates and some aren't but theoretically couldn't you just get the rom image and flash the 4.4.4 to any moto E at least the single sim variants?
Unlocked FTW. Now that the new moto G is out I sort of want to upgrade already. Oh well I will hang on to my moto E for at least a year then upgrade to a 2015 model. I might sooner upgrade of the Moto E does not get Android L (Licorice) (that's supposedly what google is going to call it don't quote me on that though)
