Root OTA Update--Keep getting kicked into recovery

If you're S-off, no need to do an OTA. Go to the All Things Root thread, and then follow the link to the firmware thread. Grab the latest firmware package posted up by CaptainThrowback over at the mikmik. Make sure it's the version with Hboot, and stock recovery removed. You'll see what I mean when you go to the site. :)

Once you've got the files, place them on the root of your SD card, not in any folders. Boot your phone into hboot, power and volume down, and the phone will prompt you to update. Power up to select yes, then leave the phone alone, let it do its thing. Reboot when prompted.

Firmware update complete. :)

Once you have the new firmware you can flash any updated Rom and it's the same as taking the OTA. S-off allows you to do this without relocking and all of that junk. ;)

Hey Granite1,

I was following your guide (I'm trying to do the same as PiperCub49), but all I am able to find are the Sprint ROMs. Seeing as PiperCub49 lists his device as a VZW M8 I am unsure how that will work. I wouldn't expect a Sprint ROM to work on a VZW phone.

Can you point me more specifically to the VZW roms for this?

Hey dautley,

Thank you for the link. It help me with get part of the way to my goal.

I followed you link and installed the files, but I realized it is on the firmware for the phone, and not a ROM to update to 4.4.3. Is there an update.zip that will update a Verizon stock 4.4.2 ROM that is rooted to 4.4.3 without having to wipe data or anything like that?

I can't seem to find one what specifically states that it will work as I described.

Here is a full 4.4.3 stock but rooted RUU but it will wipe your data. RUU M8_VZW 4.4.3 (s-off only)(newest) | Verizon HTC One (M8) | XDA Forums
If you have stock 4.4.2 and are s-off just flash the stock recovery and take the 4.4.3 ota, then flash TWRP then su.zip to root again. you can keep your data this way, I didn't even unroot 4.4.2 first.
Just make sure your 100% stock Verizon 4.4.2 (other than rooted) and have s-off first.

Hey dautley,

Thanks for the help again! I may have goofed up somewhere. Since I had already updated the firmware I figured I would just flash Scott's Roms Stock Verizon ROM. This worked and I seem to have all of the 4.4.3 features. My only problem is that the phone still prompts me all the time to update to 4.4.3 from Verizon. I can not figure out how to disable that as well as delete the pre-downloaded update(if it even is pre-downloaded), since I would think it is taking up a large amount of space.

Yo

I have a quick question for the administrators. I was on Cyanogenmod with TWRP Recovery on my Htc one M8, i did everything stock (installed 2.22.401.4 odexx stock rom, with stock recovery, relocked the bootloader and turner S-ON) Now i have OTA update and when i click install now it shows red triangle and the update fails. When i go into recovery it shows something like 2.22.401.4 "something is wrong or missing something-i dont like to go into recovery to see again but i think you know this issue ) Can you please tell me what to do guys i dont want to sell my htc m8 and i want to get the OTA's in the future without any problem. Btw my phone is bought from T-Mobile Macedonia, where i wondered is this t-mobile RUU for all countries T-Mobile devices or just US?

I will be very grateful for your answers dudes.
Thank you in advance.
