Help Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can help me with my non-rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Tablet (GT-P110). The tablet won't go into download or recovery mode, and it's saying "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again". I've tried using Kies, but it's not recognising the device.

I've downloaded Odin 3.07 and a stock ROM from Samsung Updates. When I flash the ROM via ODIN it goes through the process and it comes up "Reset!" in a blue box. The problem is the tablet doesn't reset and I just get a black screen. When I try to manually reset the tablet it comes back with the same message "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again"

Is there anything else I could try?
Many Thanks...

Use odin as described in this topic:

Follow the instructions from where "in Odin mode" start. Odin is as far as I know Samsung's own advanced product to use instead of Kies

do not try to shut the tab down beforehand just plug it in once you have odin open and running. If you even think you are low on power leave the tablet on charge from the wall charger for 6 hours before flashing

Thanks for the response.

I've tried following the instructions in the other topic, but I'm still stuck on the "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again". I can't even get the tablet to bring up the Samsung logo.

Any other suggestions?

With your tablet as it is now, plug it into a windows pc with Odin installed and running. Odin should recognise the tablet. If it shows up in Odin follow the instructions in the link for flashing.

When connected to a pc the tablet is recognised and I can flash the stock rom. The problem is that once it gets to the reset process the tablet just goes to a black screen. If I try to manually turn on the tablet I get the Firmware error screen again.

Does odin report "pass" before you try to restart the tablet. It can take up to 7 minutes before the pass message shows up in odin.
