Help Moto 360 System Update thread

Updates roll out over the course of a week or so. Kind of annoying when there's a new feature you want *now* but it's not like your watch suddenly sucks because it's not running the latest software. It's exactly the same as it was right before the new release was announced.

I suspect we'll all have it by the end of the weekend. I think last time around I got an update Friday afternoon.

Whats up guys,

So its been a few days since the new update for android wear has been out, and Ive been patiently waiting, but still, nothing. havent gotten the update yet. what gives? is there a way to push it through or do I just have to wait. I keep going to the settings and clicking on " software update " and it says " software is up-to-date". :(

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do. It comes when it comes. Just keep your watch charged over 80% so when it does come you won't have to wait. If it's below 80% it won't go.

Not true! If you hold down the button to go into Settings, select About, select System Updates and then... When you get the green screen stating "System is up to date" screen, just keep clicking/touching that green screen. I did this and at first thought it didn't work but minutes later was propmpted that my update was downloaded and ready to install.

I suspect this may have been a coincidence, as the update being pushed is controlled by Motorola/Google servers, not you tapping on a screen, but I tried it out because I like a good experiment.

Bottom line, the updates *should* be rolling out faster, but for some reason are not. I suspect Motorola is just being very cautious, but who knows? In any case, your watch is just as useful now as it was before the update was announced, so what's the big deal? Sure, it might be *more* useful when you get the update, but it's not like any of that was promised to you when you bought the watch (though I'm looking forward to some of the UI updates myself!).

He's actually right! I did the same thing he said, and boom! Updating!

Not a coincidence my friend. It is working for many people... Google is your friend.

And don't be shy with that thanks button ;)

Hmmm... I've reset my watch completely since the update, and every time my screen turns on, it shows "Ok Google" on it...

Is this happening to anyone else?

Has happened to me before, I think it might be something to do with the face not syncing, (I use facer, but I imagine it well be the sane others) the screen comes on but to a blank screen which is why you tap it again and the OK Google search pops up. As would if the face was showing up

The next update is rolling out in phases (no pun intended @Phases :p).

Moto 360 Release Notes (December 2014)

INTRODUCTION

We are rolling out a new Android Wear software update for Moto 360 by Motorola. With this update we have added support for new features and fixed some issues to improve your experience. For more information on Motorola updates and repairs, visitmotorola.com/mymoto360.

NOTE: You cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update.

ENHANCEMENTS

This Moto 360 software update is for all users. After installing the software update you will notice changes that include:

Third Party Watch Faces Choose from a variety of public watch faces available through the Google Play Store. Watch faces can be selected and configured through the Android Wear app on your phone or directly on your Moto 360. Developers can leverage application programming interfaces (APIs) to create a watch face and retrieve calendar and notification data.
Quick Settings Swiping down from the top brings new settings that include Theatre mode (display off), Sunlight mode (temporarily maximize brightness), managing interruptions, and easier access to deeper Settings. Interruptions choices made on your Moto 360 automatically change the Interruptions setting on your Lollipop-based phone.
User Interface Improvements Easily undo the accidental dismissal of notification cards, and dismiss individual cards within a bundle of multiple notifications.
Battery & Storage Stats The Android Wear application will now allow you to obtain more information about Moto 360 battery performance including a projection of time left and a breakdown of usage by applications. You can also see how much storage space remains - which is helpful when planning offline music.
Android™ 5.0, Lollipop Updates Android Wear to the latest platform for consistency across Android devices for both consumers and developers.
Bug Fixes A variety of system optimizations to improve performance and stability

INSTRUCTIONS

This software update will be rolled out in phases to Moto 360 users over the next few days. When you receive the update, you will receive a notification on your watch.
To successfully install the update, your watch must be connected to a phone which is in turn connected to the internet. Your watch’s battery level must also be greater than 80%.
If you have received a notification message for this update:

  1. Select "Download".
  2. After the software is downloaded, select "Install now".
  3. After the software is installed, your Moto 360 will restart automatically.
  4. Your watch is now updated with LWX48P
