One of the only ways I can see clearing battery stats helping would be if you had a battery that was crapping out for awhile and switched to a brand new battery
Clearing cache and such helps me sometimes if I've run the phone and a lot of apps for extended periods of times
The biggest known issue and fix for me is the known issue with the Email app, android 4.4.2 and on have a massive leak in the email app, if you use titanium backup freeze the email app and I'm almost 100% sure you'll see at least some improvement, this leak was fixed but seems to have appeared again, its not just on Roms either, even the official versions suffered from it
For me personally I was losing 50% battery in like 6 hours even with 0 phone use, froze email app, now my phone lasts almost 24 hours even with me playing demanding games, of course if I play the games for extended periods it'll kill it faster but everyone knows or should know that lol
Another problem is Rouge apps as they are referred to, rouge apps are apps that once you open and close them they should freeze till you open them again, except rouge ones will keep going using memory or battery up, Facebook is the biggest one I know of, Facebook will randomly and continuously connect and use battery and memory and data even if you shut the app down, best way to use Facebook on ur mobile would be to use the webpage and just bookmark it
3rd big issue comes from App Killers, worst thing you could ever download on an android, android phones don't run like a windows PC, on your phone when you close an app it actually just freezes the app so you can quickly go right back into it (on most apps anyway) if this "Froze" app is killed in anyway android will simply restart the app in the background
So with an app killer you get what I call the headbutt effect, app killer shuts app down, android restarts it, killer shuts it down, android restarts it, etc. Etc basically just adds non needed work to you device, best thing I found to do if you done with all apps and wish to have them all closed and maintain the best battery is once your done everything simply reboot the device then only apps you open or apps that should run will be taxing the system
