I just wish the N5 would get cleared for everyone *cough *cough I mean its physically capable... cus IFFFF for some reason i couldnt get a 6, a 5 would be more than adequate...
After a full year of stellar performance from my much loved Nexus 5, that's really been pushed and put to the test, I happily endorse the N5 as one of the finest Android smartphones.

In a short while I'll have both the Nexus 5 and 6 models, at which point I'll gradually reduce the size of my vast selection of new current model Androids.

Too spoiled by pure Nexus... :D

Does anyone think Verizon is being hush-hush on the Nexus 6 until the Turbo launches or is announced (tomorrow I think)?

We all know how little Big Red thinks of Nexus devices, but waiting for the Turbo is the only reason I can think of that they'd have a self-imposed embargo on even mentioning it on their web site or acknowledging it at all on social media.

Thoughts? The closer we get to the pre-orders the more nervous I get that Big Red will screw this up ala the Gnex and N7 debacles.

Im still willing to bet that there will be a ever so slight diff b/t play store models and carrier (Vzw) models... something just tells me...

As much as I hope we're wrong, I have to agree with you.

Doesn't matter to me, though, because the first thing I'm going to do is fastboot oem unlock it and then flash the factory image the moment it's available. And as soon as cm12 is out and stable I'll be flashing that.

So far only one carrier has said a word and it's T-mobile. So it's not just Verizon being hush hush about dates.

They're the only ones to mention availability, but AT&T at least has a presser about it:

AT&T to Welcome First Nexus Device; Confirms Nexus 6 Will Join the Nation's Most Reliable 4G LTE Network

And Sprint has a Nexus 6 landing page where you can pre-register for info, too:

Nexus 6 from Sprint

Verizon hasn't even officially confirmed support for it, except indirectly to droid-life.

The fact that Verizon won't even mention the device on their website is concerning to me, but then again Verizon usually does this. And I just looked and they don't have any mention of the Droid Turbo on their site either.

I'm just paranoid after the galaxy nexus I guess. hahah :D

Verizon does have a mysterious blurb about the Droid line on their main page. "See what Droid does next" It doesn't exactly say "Droid Turbo" but it probably is.

IMHO The Nexus 6 is the single most significant smartphone of our time, in its size class. This is a world class product created by Google and Motorola's finest.

All products are comprised of a series of compromises caused by the multitude of considerations and limitations. This Nexus is the result of these two companies working very diligently to create a truly outstanding finished product. I have no problem with that statement even before the reviews are in.

I predict the Nexus 6 will receive excellent reviews and quite possibly rival the Note 4 in sales volume.

Perhaps I'm completely wrong... Time will tell :)

Without a single in depth review, that is quite an leap of faith your taking.

This answers the question about the difference when buying via carrier vs from the Play Store.

"However, your phone will still be loaded with plenty of bloatware if you buy through a wireless carrier. Sure, you can buy the Nexus 6 unlocked, but when you do so, it starts at $649."

Hands on with the Google Nexus 6: Android goes big

Very interesting. So if you buy from the Play Store, it'll work on all retailers, but will cost you.

If you want to subsidize your phone, you get some bloatware installed (which is detects based on your sim card?). But at least said bloat can be removed! If it's not on /system, not a big deal it'll take a couple of minutes tops to uninstall the stuff you don't want.

That said, if there's bloatware on the carrier devices, who in their right mind would buy one full retail from the carriers?

It makes me wonder if the small amount of stock on the Play Store was because they had stock reserved for the carriers?

I'd say after this article and seeing the logos of carriers on the N6 site, see link, they do have bloatware on the carrier phones. Besides the SIM card only holds the users account data, bloat resides on the phone.

Equally troubling is the fact current practice is each carrier charges full price, spreading it out over the 24 mo no interest Next Program - AT&T or the Jump Program - T-Mobile. So it's no cheaper than direct from Google which has NO bloatware and even better NO carrier branding.

I'm not saying the apps are stored on the sim card. Rather, Google has figured out a way in play services to pull down and install apps or tweak settings (e.g. APNs) based on the carrier identified by the sim card. What's the big deal, just uninstall the apps!

It's NO big deal for me, I've rooted every Android I've had for years, and this will be no different. I was just sharing observations and the principal of it.

For my personal and business use, I optimize mine with so many mods and changes that by the time I'm done it's ideal for my workflow.

You don't even need root, though. It literally means people can uninstall the apps just like any other app downloaded from the play store.

So essentially I should be able to remove any potential bloat by just holding down and selecting uninstall just like I would any other app?

I'm probably going to get it from AT&T through Next.

I wondering where they go the info about bloat. Since they don't have a carrier phone to compare. But it also brings up another question could it be that no matter where you buy it you'll end up with bloat based off the sim you put in it. And that apps will download once your put said carriers sim in? But as has been pointed out as long as they shouldn't be too hard to get rid of anyway.

Please excuse my dumbness, but if I buy the Nexus 6 from Motorola, is it compatible with Verizon? Are there different versions for V vs ATT, vs S or T?

I just scored on from Motorola's site, and would like to have the flexibility to pick between Verizon or AT&T.

There is currently some question as to if and or when VZW will "allow" the Nexus 6 on their network. There is a couple of threads here that discuss it.

I certainly would not count on VZW service at this point, it will however work on AT&T.

If you already have a Verizon sim it will work there is no doubt there.

Now trying to get a sim could be more problematic.
