4.4.4 on Verizon

For those with less battery life than they had, might consider a factory reset. I had issues with mobile data and battery life, finally gave in and did the factory reset. It's a bit of a pain but might solve your issues. My phone is working much better since I did it.

Gonna try that this afternoon. I also noticed I had a GPS monitor running, that I normally have disabled, so that could have been one contributor

I have installed the 4.4.4 update about a week ago, or so....

So far, I have not noticed any major improvement (or decrease for that matter) in battery performance at this time. I am still running it through the paces, but am not holding my breath.

I must say it is very nice having a file manager that actually had write access to my SD Card. I much prefer Root Explorer (even without root access), but this new native file manager works just fine.

It is also quite nice to have a native flashlight now. All the third party flashlights seems to be sketchy at best (inappropriate permissions, odd network connections, etc).

Now if only VZW would approve the HTC FM Radio app.... Though let's be honest, that is never going to happen is it? If we had access to the FM Radio then we wouldn't be streaming. And if we aren't streaming, then VZW wouldn't be able to nickel and dime us for data. I guess being on a network that actually has great coverage means having to give up a few services that would never put a penny in their pocket.

I'm not sure that this last update included this added feature or if I totally missed it but I can double tap the screen on then quickly double tap the screen off for a quick peek. I just don't remember maybe. Oldtimers disease maybe.

The double tap and swipe in a direction has always been there. Settings can be found in: Settings>Display & Gestures>Motion Launch Gestures...

Double tap off? I don't remember that part. Was it originally there?

I have been using the double tap on and off since the day I bought the phone. Now, the double tap off only works from the lock screen for me. I just tried it on the home screen, app drawer, settings menu, and inside a few different apps and it just registers as regular taps. But when on the lock screen, double tap will turn off the screen.
