Help Problems Restoring Nandroid Backup

Hi,

I recently rooted my SCH-R530M 4.3 stock ROM, by flashing CWM in Odin then loading SuperSU.zip and installed it in CWM. Everything went fine and was working great until I tried out the Nandroid backup feature.

After restoring Nandroid backup, upon rebooting I was bombarded with error messages "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" over and over again along with other messages about other apps stopping. Ended up factory resetting after not being able to resolve it. Now I'm back to where I was before Nandroid restore attempt, but now affraid to use Nandroid backup and restore again.

Does anyone know what caused the problem, or a solution so I can restore my Nandroid backups? I couldn't find anything helpful online.

This should be in a root section and will probably be moved there for you. I have not seen that version of the phone so I can not link you to files directly with confidence..

My guess would be you either have installed a old version of the recovery, the wrong version of the recovery or the backup got corrupt. When I rooted I heard that CWM was not working right with android 4.3, was told to install philz cwm based recovery instead. Maybe that's still true, I have had no problems restoring with philz.

Yeah, I guess it's a 4.3 problem. I just flashed Carbon Rom 4.4.4 (like it)and nandroid restore works fine now. I'm going to try out some more custom roms, and I don't think I'll be going back to 4.3. But, I'll keep a nand backup of the 4.3, and if I need to I can just restore it and factory reset it or give philz cwm a try.

Thanks

How is TWRP recovery nowadays? I used to use it on my evo 3d and loved it! I swear there used to be a paid app for it that I had but can no longer find it.
I think people use Flashify or Rom Toolbox to flash it mate.
It's an OK, simple to use recovery. Big and bold but doesn't have as many options as Philz
