I was able to snag 2 Nexus Players and 2 Gamepads. I didn't want to wait and risk them going out of stock... we all know how quickly that can happen. Here is my delivery status showing in Google Play Store.

Earlier yesterday I checked on this and it said that it ships on the 14th. Updated last night and now is on it's way today. It actually will be here today!

That's a lot faster than I expected and gives me hope to see my Nexus 6 ship before the 21st! :)

The Player was packaged exceptionally well. In comparison the ASUS game controller that arrived in the same shipping box, looked to have been packaged by grade schoolers.

I have it connected and setup went smoothly. I need to begin testing the capabilities of it. Anyone know if this can interface with and possibly control any DVRs?

    GOT IT!

And I have to agree: the packaging is quite impressive. I'm hoping to replace my aging Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player with Google TV (Android 3.2 I think) but the Nexus Player absolutely, must must MUST have Amazon Prime Instant Video on it or installable... or all bets are off with the Darling Bride.

Is anyone here able to confirm that the Nexus Player is, in fact, compatible and plays nice with Amazon?

EDIT: I have it all installed and running and I can confirm...

Amazon Instant Video is NOT supported

So guess what? The old Google TV stays around on its own, separate input just for Amazon... while the Nexus Player has ANOTHER input for Netflix or Google Movies (for which we have the included $20 credit and nothing else).

Another HUGE learning curve for the technologically-declined Darling Bride :(

My wife and I cut cable last month and picked one up...then returned it because of an error (something Google couldn't figure out). Netflix and Google Play would not play videos. At all.

So we got a second one and I sniffed out the HDCP problem (a crappy HDMI switch hooked up to the other port, so I just disconnected it)...then returned it because something was wrong with the hardware. Audio would play and then shut off for a few seconds (yet the track would keep playing) and once it kicked back on, it was where it should have been had the audio not quit. Video playback did the same thing, but also froze the video.

So I got a third one, and this one seems to work. (In all likelihood, the first one probably worked just fine, but Google told me to take it back to Best Buy and try a new one.) A little disappointed with the lack of apps on the stock OS, but I'm sure more are coming (and I can sideload some if I need to, I'm sure).

Once the Sling TV app is ready to go, I'll be a very happy camper.
