Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [APP][ROOT] Saferoot app

i still have v6 on my f3... haven't rooted this phone yet... was waiting for one button app type deal...

my questions...

1. is the ota v7 update pushed onto the phone by vw? or will it give me the option to say yes or no to the upgrade?

2. is there a good (and stable!) recovery program for the f3? all my experience is with clockworkmod and the older elite.

thanks.

What do you mean VW?? Pretty sure you meant VM
VW is Verizon Wireless
VM is Virgin Mobile

1)It's pushed by LG
2)CWM, look through this: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...very-zv6-cwm-6-0-4-8-touch-lg-optimus-f3.html

Also, it's better to upgrade to V7 first if you are not currently rooted, then root with towelroot (google it), then install ROMs, mods, whatever :p

My first car was a VW :)

So what you are saying is that LG will at some point push V7 through onto all our phones and there is no way to stop it?

I've been rooted with V6 for a while now. I haven't installed any ROMS; I'm content with the fact that I've been able to remove some bloat and expand memory capacity.

What is going to happen when V7 gets pushed through? Is my phone going to "brick?"

Should I unroot my phone now and install V7? As far as I can tell, it hasn't been "offered" to me yet.

And again, there's no way to prevent all this and just go merrily on my way enjoying the phone I have now? I knew what I was getting into when I chose to go down this road, but I simply don't get excited about this stuff the way other people do. I wouldn't mind doing it once a year, but every couple months is just a pain in the ass. And how often do these updates come out? The next big one is Almond Joy, I mean Kit Kat? What's the big deal with that, exactly, other than another change I have to adapt to?

Alright, I feel better. Sorry for the rant. As always, I truly appreciate all the time and effort you guys put into this stuff, particularly in making it as easy to follow as possible for people like me.

lg has patched saferoot root exploit on zv7 fw and up. You can use stump to root both version 7 and 8 firmware. Install it, open it, and tap the "grind" button. Answer "okay" to use bruteforce from pop-up. It takes a few minutes so be patient. Once it's done, reboot and install supersu and busybox from the playstore.

my lg optimus f3 won't install stump root v1.2.0 it says out of space though there is plenty space
. What can i do to use the stump root??

I have never had this "out of space but plenty exists " issue I keep hearing about from other members. That leaves me at a lose as to the best way to solve it. Try uninstalling an app or two. Just until you can use Stump. Afterward uninstall Stump and reinstall the apps. Sorry I could be more help.

I checked and my phone is V8 so I ran Stump. It seemed to run through properly. Both SuperSU and Busybox loaded and seem to be running fine. Thanks, you guys are awesome.

My problem is with Link2SD which is the main reason I started this little project. It says it can't move apps because it can't find a second partition. Is this something I need to create? Is there another forum for issues like this?

Please pardon my noobishness.

Yes, you will need to partition the external sdcard into two partitions. One being fat32, the other ext4. I dont know why. It gives instructions in the link2sd thread

Already got it! I used an app called AParted to partition the card. After I linked all of the apps I could to the SD card, my free space rose from around 175 mb to over 500. I'd like to thank the folks running this site for the success of this project.

Finally rooted YAY but now I cannot get link2sd allow me to move over apps, I get an error when attempting. "app2sd is not supported by your device. because your device has a primary external storage which is emulated from the internal storage. You can link the app in order to move its files to your sd card" Not sure where else to post this didn't want to flood the main board with a random post
