Can a few of you check this possible speaker issue for me?

I noticed after each keyboard depress sound or anytime the speakerphone notifies or makes a sound that there is a pop or static sound 3 seconds afterwards. It appears to be the built-in speaker on the back engaging and disengaging. If your Note 4's do it than its safe to say they all do it, if its just mine doing it....back it goes.

To test, go in a quiet area and just pull the S-Pen out a little bit so it makes the remove sound and push the S-Pen back in and let me know if you here a faint static pop about 3 seconds later... OR just compose a blank text and depress keys and see if you hear the sound slightly after each key input.

It sounds like crap when I'm in my quiet office and I'm typing on the Note 4 and I keep hearing this.

Thanks for your help

I don't have this issue

Hey Jim,

Thanks for getting back so soon. I just had dinner with a friend who has a Verizon Note 4, I have the AT&T version. His makes the same sound as mine. What we both believe it to be is the built in rear speaker turning off after whatever sound it just happened to announce, whether it was a keyboard click sound, notifications sound, or anything that turns the speaker on for a brief moment.

Since my 14 days is expiring this Thursday I felt it necessary to verify if I indeed have an issue or not so I spent damn close to the whole day driving to multiple AT&T company stores and 3 Best Buy Samsung Experience kiosks and listened to 16 Note 4's. All of them did exactly what mine does. They all make a static click sound about 3-5 seconds after the speakerphone makes whatever sound you reproduce, for example the water droplet sound, or the S-Pen removal sound or a keyboard click...virtually any sound emitted from the rear speakerphone is followed seconds later by a faint static click which sounds to me like the rear speaker physically shutting off. It's annoying but seemingly unavoidable at the moment...so I'll live with it.

Maaan I misread what you said .I was listening for the sound after I pulled my S pen, not when I put it back in. I just listened after I put it back in, and yes I hear the noise

How did you even notice that ?lol

Hi Jim,

I lay awake at night...LOL
My hearing is insanely good. I was in my home office the other day and it was dead silent inside and out and as I was doing something on the phone I would hear this faint "click" or static pop sound and after closely listening and trying different things I realized it was the rear speaker. I am assuming it is the speaker shutting off a few seconds after it makes it's intended sound or announcement. Fairly certain there is nothing that can be done about it unless maybe somehow when Lollipop releases it wipes it clean....In the meantime I need some background music LOL

don't get me wrong, I'm actually very pleased with the sound quality and loudness of the rear speaker. Only issue is that is makes a static pop sound when it turns on and off. They ALL do it so I'm not concerned.
To me speaker sounds good listening to music and movies, but like my note 3 on speakerphone you can only turn up right around half before it starts to sound tinny and distorts, and certain ring tones that I've used in the past on other phones that sounded good with out much distortion, some don't sound the same when turned up on this phone ,if turned up to much sounds tinny. But over all I love this phone..lol

I've got my speaker volume turned all the way up to 11 :p
But seriously, I do have it cranked up to the max and I have no distortion in YouTube videos, ringtones etc...But....On speaker phone calls some people I have on speakerphone crackle..

My speaker seems to be making a popping noise all the time, after I do just about anything; clicking on links, listening to anything, typing, opening apps ugh!! It's only noticeable when it is very quiet, but it's incredibly frustrating!!

Has no one found a fix?
Had to come back and post, I've managed to make it stop happening constantly by turning off
sounds > other sounds > touch sounds

Still does the 1-2 sec long weird distortion/buzz/popping after any other sound finishes though =| is this a bad phone should I send it back? From what it sounds tho alost all of them do it?

My NEXUS 6 does this as well,on Lollipop & Android M.
Same remedy,turned off touch sounds.......

Hey guys!
I'm experiencing the exact same issues. I noticed it in a quiet room and my OCD kicked in so bad.
I brought it to my friend who owns a note 4s attention; she cant hear the sound at all.
Its almost like a buzzing and disoriented sound, it clicks right at the end and turns off until any sign of sound is brought through.
I brought it to my carrier today and they couldnt hear it; so ive given up and came here.
Previous issues I've had is the home button clicking at any soft touch; i brought it to samsung and they held it overnight and seemed to have fixed it.
Could they opening the phone and working on it caused this back speaker issue?
Its so bloody annoying. And especially the fact its 2 weeks old..

The first thing I do when I get a new phone is turn off the very annoying touch sounds, having to sit somewhere with someone tapping away at the keyboard on their phone and having to listen to the stupid noise it makes every key press makes me want to either go and throw their phone across the room, or go and slap their face. Yeah haha, I should probably do that too.
Its even with putting the volume louder, if you listen carefully.. in my case put it right to my bloody ear, I can hear a static sound and then a pop.

Sucks big time, but Im so tired of running around via Samsung and my phone carrier that i'm over it.
it's not a big issue, its obviously common with the Note 4 and I need to try and channel it out!!

this thread helped a lot tho :)
