Root New update

Can't be flashed without a stock recovery. However Spock put together a B07 rooted stock complete rom which is flashable. Has anyone noticed any signal/data improvement with the patch?

I noticed marginal improvement, but I will be posting another procedure soon that will also help out. The two together have worked well on my two phones for the last month.

Hi,

I installed Spock's N800_B07_FULL.zip package on two different phones in the past and it has been working great.
Yesterday we noticed that the (visual) voicemail application is not installed, so there is no way to know if someone left a voice mail.

The N800_B07_FULL package has the vtt-sprint.apk file on the system/app folder, but the voicemail application is not really installed - it doesn't appear on the list of installed applications.

I have downloaded a few different versions of Virgin's (Sprint's) voicemail application (vtt-sprint.apk, VMM.apk, com.coremobility.app.vnotes-1) but I can't install them, I get a "Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package" message.

Is anyone running B07 able to use the voicemail application?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I already visited that thread and tried to install urrachris' voicemail apk, but I got a "Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package" message. I am on stock B07 (spock's N800_B07_FULL.zip package).

A few moments ago I restored an old B06 backup with TWRP and the behavior is the same, so the issue does not come from spock's B07 package. I also restored an older B04 backup and that one works well: the voicemail application is installed and shows a notification (in the notification bar) saying that I have a voice mail.

I have also tried to backup the voicemail application while in B04 (using Titanium Backup) and restore it in B07, but it fails - Titanium doesn't finish (I left it running while taking a shower). Titanium manages to copy the vtt-sprint.apk in system/app, but the application doesn't really get installed.
I think I will move this discussion to the other thread as this seems to be a voicemail specific issue ...

spock's N800_B07_FULL.zip package is not the problem, the problem starts with the B06 update. I installed the stock recovery and stock ROM (B04), and then I did the automatic updates (B04->B05, B05->B06,...) and the voicemail application disappears on B06. And it's not possible to install it ("parse error") after B06.

Hopefully nothing funny was done in the B05 script. Here's a package to take you straight to stock-ish B07. Difference is it's rooted and doesn't have the stock recovery. Always wipe cache and dalvik-cache. If you don't wipe data then this just upgrades you. If there are stock apps you don't like I recommend removing them from /system/app before flashing. Be patient when flashing, it takes several minutes to do its thing.

N800_B07_FULL.zip - 390.98 MB

Does anyone have this available still? This download appears to be corrupted

Sorry I didn't rehost yesterday, but here it is along with a busybox bug fix. I accidentally grabbed the old image after installing a busybox app. Bugged trying to install your own busybox. Oops.

This one isn't pre-rooted either, it's pure stock, so flash the SuperSu zip on top of it or let TWRP root it.

Thank you much sir!
Umm, the reason I wanted this and I'm just assuming... is once I get this flashed the B07 firmware will stick through all my other flashing of other ROMs, like if I go to CM12, I'll still be on B07. Is this an improper assumption?

Yes that should be true, I haven't seen any other ROMs include the other partitions.
