Help Clothing rubbing interupts whatever...

So I walk to the bus stop every morning listening to music. My Moto360 will rub against my coat and change the screen to Google Now or facer or whatever which causes the music to be paused. Anyone else experience this problem or have a solution? It's driving me nuts!

Turn on Airplane mode (Disconnects watch from phone so no controls), or move watch off wrist.

What kind of coat/cuff do you have? I wouldn't think fabric would have enough capacitance to register as a touch.

It's a rain coat that works well in cold weather. The outer shell is stiff material which is also present in the cuffs. The inner shell is a gortex type material. I would have thought the same as you, but I find that it rubs quite a bit which causes the watch to react as if it had been touched or an extended touch. I quite often have my music interrupted for an "OK Google" moment, or I'm staring at the watch face selection screen. Frustrating.

BTW, turning on airplane mode sort of defeats the purpose of the watch. When it's not rubbing against my coat, it is ever so convenient to be able to pause the music from wrist instead of digging the phone out of my pocket...

Hmmm, i'll have to get back to you on this. I just got my 360 and I've not finished setting it up. I'll give it a go with several different jackets see if the material blend matters. You might just have the one coat that registers as a finger.

I posted the same question on reddit, and a few people reported back with the same problem. I think the rougher or stiffer the material, the greater the chance of a false positive.

Okay, day one with watch and jacket. No accidental touches and the sleeve of the jacket does move over the watch face as i walk and drive. Jacket is a Lands End polyester/nylon blend.

I'll get the name of the clothing and post it. The coat/jacket is several years old, so I hope I can still find the style...

I have an all-weather trench coat and a leather jacket. We are getting into the season where those come out, so I'll try and keep you updated if I encounter any reaction based on material.

OK, the jacket is a Mountain Hardwear brand jacket. It's an older jacket and not on their website. I checked the tag in the jacket and it says the outer shell is 100% nylon and the inner shell is 100% nylon too. The lining trim is 100% polyester. The outer shell is a stiffer more rugged material while the inner material is a softer thinner material found in most jackets. It looks like the cuff that is rubbing against the watch is polyester. I have the silver and the black watch and I get the same behavior out of both of them. I am keeping an eye on the watch to see if happens with any other jackets/coats and keep posting...

I have a Old Navy zip hoodie that I believe to be cotton with the wooly inner lining. The elastic cuff covers my watch when I wear, and some cotton long sleeves partially cover it, I never have noticed it recently. I tried experimenting with the dust cloths that come with screen protectors. I think they are polyester/nylon. Anyway in one ply i can actually get the screen to turn on and swipe. When i double it over I cannot get it to turn the watch on or swipe. Not sure if that means anything other than a thin polyester/nylon can still activate the capacitive screen and cotton does not.

I was out shoveling snow earlier (Heart rate monitor on

) and I had my 100% cotton fishing jacket on over a cotton/poly blend sweatshirt. Nothing.

For argument's sake, try slipping a piece of cloth under the watch between your skin and see if you get any accidental touches with that jacket. Something is setting up a capacitance between the watch and your jacket. It might be you. (Seriously)
