Root Will Lollipop allow root access?

Damn. Thought it sounded too good to be true. I wasn't gonna root this device. Mainly because it seemed like more trouble than it was worth. Hardly any bloatware on the M8, the only thing I was really missing is Xprivacy. I saw a tool for cracking WPA security on Wi-Fi earlier and it required root, and wanted to give that a go. I'm happy with the stock Rom running Nova Launcher, which I may buy the full version of. I may still root it, but I'll wait until Lollipop because I assume I would have to unroot to do the upgrade or reroot it when I install the upgrade.

Well I guess he may be confused or he may have understand the things in a different way !
He seemed pretty knowledgeable as far as electronics go, he probably just heard a rumor. He may also have been reluctant to say anything about rooting on the clock since I brought it up. Not that it mattered, I got to keep my RAZR. I was gonna swap service over to my HTC Incredible if it came down to trading one in.

For HTC devices its generally best to root before the OTA, as the OTA itself can close security exploits used to gain root access. Then once you have a custom recovery installed you flash the updated files manually to preserve root.

However, this is going to be very device specific, so I will move this to the device specific forum.. Only follow root instructions specific for your device. Others will not work.

Xposed is not likely to be ready for Lollipop anytime soon - if ever.

I'm going to stick with KitKat until that's sorted.

If you're on Verizon, you can't get s-off before Sunshine releases version 3 - after Lollipop, no telling how much longer that will take.

Whether you want s-off or not isn't the point - unlocking the bootloader is, and that's your only option on Verizon as they've prohibited your access to HTCdev.com unlock.

Sorry. :(
