So many new Smart Watches

Oh my God, i wish i had waited a bit before i took the plunge.

I bought an LG G Watch only a few days after it was released and im SO glad i did. I couldnt live without it now and use it so much every day. Even texting people to meet them in the pub when im power walking through work.
Honestly, i love it.

But there are so many better looking ones coming out. I especially like the LG G Watch R.

Thank you Google for getting these into the main stream.

since Android Wear isn't going to be that different across devices and since i don't have any vanity i could care less what it looks like, and only care that it does what i need it to when i want it to, reliably. the real differences are in hardware. do you need a heart rate monitor? IR blaster? or does it matter to you if a watch looks fancy or if it is simple and utilitarian?

So long as it does what i want reliably, and holds up well under fire at work (i'm a mechanic so it needs to at least be sturdy and durable) i really don't care at all if it looks nice or if it's a black slab on my wrist.

It's often the ones that look nice and fancy that don't hold up as well at work. when a Gear 2 gets scratched and banged up it's very noticeable. but a black basic G Watch won't show any marks much at all.

Welcome to the forums, Magic Cube 01.

I assume you're talking about the Pebble Steel?
I have the first one (KS edition actually), and just yesterday returned a Moto 360 cause the Pebble does everything I need, battery lasts forever, and screen is way more visible outside.
Gear 2, couldn't say anything about since I don't use Samsung phones.

The Pebble is boring, doesn't hold up at work, (six months and it just died), has many issues with maintaining Bluetooth connectivity (dozens of times, the weather would be replaced with the 'no connection' icon), has zero voice control, needs buttons to interact, and is limited to notifications and music controls only. Not worth the extra battery life IMO.

the Pebble watches also need tons of separate apps and offer no central app hub to get watch apps from. It feels half put together, almost typical of an effort of a few amateur developers. 'Crowd sourced' I think is the term.

While the Gear 2 is a visual upgrade from its predecessor, it suffers the same weather update bug, with no fix in sight. It seems to get stuck on whatever update it got last, and never updates on its own. The only workaround is pulling your phone out, forcing the AccuWeather widget to manually refresh, and then the watch updates. But that defeats the point of the watch.

The LG G Watch is similar in design and UI to Pebble but offers features that are unheard of in Pebble and far more reliable. The UI is confusing as hell to learn because Google loves hiding things behind gestures and odd icons and never offers a user manual but once you get past that. It's fine.

Thing is it's only really the Pebble and Android Wear that are not proprietary to a particular brand of device....caugh...Apple Watch....caugh.

I'm not bothering with any.

I will be buying either an iWatch or LG Watch (LGR or whatever it is called) as a present for someone. We are all pooling up to get this tech crazed friend of ours a wearable on his birthday. By the looks of this forum, I'd say LG seems like a better solution.

A friend just told me that these LG's watch isnt available in our part of the world yet and iWatch is too costly anyway... so anybody got a well rounded suggestion? Should I go for Moto 360 instead?

Just picked up my Galaxy Gear S in Black and am happy so far. The only downside is within the email. You can read but can't reply to emails and with my employer and exchange, I can see that someone has sent me a message but the content is not displayed and instead it must be viewed on my phone. Otherwise however, my schedule and and contacts are coming through just fine.

Please be careful. The LG watch will not work with an iPhone and an iwatch will not work with an android phone.

Just picked up the new LG G Watch R yesterday.
So far I am very impressed with it. Have downloaded and tried out many different watch faces. All look really good

Have tried out the pedometer and heart rate monitors. They seem to work quite well.
Was considering the MOTO watch with the new steel band but just could not deal with the bottom of the display cut off like it is. Oh well.
Will update any issues and comments that I have in the future. Going to investigate watch bands for this phone. I would like to get a black "Twist O Flex" band but do not know if it will work? Will keep you up to date

I have the Pebble Gen 2 and love it. It fits my needs. Stays connected. Good battery life.

I looked at the Pebble watch and was liking it a lot but I prefer the round face type. Like I said, the Moto was my first choice but the bottom of the display was a deal breaker for me.
I have ordered a new watch band for it. I am an older peep so went with the old black "Twist O Flex" band

Do not like to have to buckle the band twice a day

You should think about what it works with. So before buying an Apple Watch check what it can do if you don't have a (sufficiently recent) Apple phone. Of course if you just bought an iPhone 6 as well you are fine.

Same goes with any smart watch: check what it does with the phone you have. But most Android watches work with most Android phones.
