Yeah I did this again last night 3rd time now doing a reset in system recovery deleted cache and did a complete reinstall not adding any widgests keeping things very minimal, when I woke up this morning phone would not turn on nor the active display after hitting the power button like 5 times it finally turned on, ill try to get a replacement but this is really bumming me out, its hard for me to believe that this is all hardware related like a bad handset it feels totally like a buggy lollipop.

Sounds like you got a lemon.

If it were a firmware issue we'd be hearing it all over the place since the release, but we're not. Most people are reporting positives and accolades.
Yeah I ended up calling tmo today and im going to get it sent back unfortunately both the 32gb and 64gb are out of stock and if I wait for a new one it would go past my 14 day grace period for returns, I ended up getting the M8 again because no other phone interests me, ill probably slap on the play edition on it or leave it how it is. But I may get the N6 again one day going to wait and see what fixes and reviews are going to come out after a month or so and hope things get better, I still think its lollipop and lots of bugs but you all seem to think its hardware related so we shall see how it turns out gl guys and thanks for the advice.

A few more days later and I can't say enough good things about this phone. I am in love. For my first Nexus phone, I am not disappointed. My Nexus tablets have sometimes left a bit to be desired, simply not so with the Nexus 6.

I've let some friends and family handle the beast, the general consensus is "Wow!"

Great sound, great screen, great wireless, beautiful design from software and hardware.

My battery life has been better than expected after reading several reviews. I get through the day no problem. I bought a Moto 360 to match, and now that I'm texting, checking email, and doing other tasks from the watch, battery life has improved a bit more.

If anyone reading this is on the fence, I highly suggest you give it a try.

For the record, I'm running not rooted and encrypted. The fact that this thing has the potential to perform even better blows my mind. As is out-of-the-box, I find it very responsive and fluid. I'm really diggin' Lollipop, even with the minor bugs it may have. They'll be corrected over time, and it doesn't reflect on the quality of the device.

Thank you, Motorola, for the quality device. You never let me down before, and I'm glad to be back.

The Nexus line prior to the 6 was about producing affordable pure Android devices. They were usually short-specc'ed in one or more regards. The 6 is truly a flagship device. They didn't skimp (as reflected in the price:cashdroid:).

Addictive, ain't it? :thumbsupdroid:

Addictive isn't the word... Now all I need is one of Moto's kick-butt BT headsets to complete the package... :D

C'mon Xmas bonus!!!

Hey guys and girls names Alex and im a new nexus 6 user and i didn't see a thread for all the wonderful things this device has to offer.. Let me be honest I was a Samsung fan boy Ive had them all since the vibrant ive rooted all of those devices and was quite happy with them.
I actually had the note 4 it was during that time how touch wiz was just boring to me, I would always put nova on the device but underneath it all it was just the same old touch wiz.. I probably would've waited for a good AOSP rom (vanilla anyone? lol) but I decided to do a buyers remorse and get a nexus 6.. I'm not saying the note series is a bad phone its just "in my humble opinion" got tired of it.....
So i decided I would give the nexus 6 a try... I've always loved the true google experience anyways and after having the device for over a week now.. I'm just so happy ive made this decision, I've never been happier with any device like I am now its everything ive ever wanted a phone to be, its blazing fast the data connection is just awesome (allot faster than the note 4 for some reason) and the call quality is spot on... I've got the 34 gig version and after the games and pics and music I still got 19 gigs left so im good there...
But having said all that people just need to give the stock Google experience a try you wont be disappointed.. I like launchers nova is my preference it just plays nicer with the nexus 6.... Nova on the note 4 is just a coat of paint on the outside you still have to deal whats on the inside.... But hey that may be your thing....
In all you cant go wrong with either... It just comes down with knowing how to set your device up and if you have questions ask... cause were all here to help ya......... Thanks all just my two cents.... Im glad to be a member here.... AB

Thanks Alex. Hope you continue to enjoy your N6 for a long time. I seem to be getting 2 years from my Nexii. ;)

Reading your post it occurs to me that in the comparison reviews all we seem to hear about is the screen and camera quality, or size and SD Card support. I don't think I've seen one yet discussing the things a phone is supposed to do ... make a phone call.

I've had a few Samsung devices, including my current tablet (Note 10.1 2014) which isn't applicable because it doesn't make calls, so forget I just said that. Samsung radios and GPS receivers have always had issues, at least for me. Trying to use navigation on my old Galaxy SII was an adventure in travel, to say the least. And, on my commute home, there was one spot where I could guarantee I was going to drop any call. Of course that was always the case with every cell phone I've ever owned so I assumed it was just one of those weird areas where there was either too much interference, not enough towers, or a secret CIA listening station. ;)

Last night I was chatting with the wife on my way home and it wasn't until I was well past the "dead zone" that i realized the call never dropped. Not even a bit of static. And the sound quality through my hands-free system seems better. That's just the impression I have right now, anyway.

This is the first Motorola device I've had since my old StarTac.

My last Motorola phones were amazing. I had several before, but I owned a v710 and e815 (nearly identical except for firmware and shell design) right before switching to Windows Mobile smartphones.

I'm pretty sure they'd get signal and make a call in a microwave oven.

My initial impressions - Note that I've only had the device for around 14 hours at this point. Bootloader unlocked but no modifications. I also haven't installed the OTA's as I haven't had wifi available yet.

Overall Design:
Hardware wise this thing feels very premium. It looks fantastic, and its going to be a bummer to put it in a case. I wasn't sure I'd like the moto dimple, but its really not that bad. I'm not the biggest fan of the button placement as I seem to be hitting the volume keys with my hand as I put it in my pockets, but the placement is something that I'll get used to in time.

Size:
Its definitely in the "phablet" category. Its big. Too big? I don't think so. I feel like I'm already used to it. One handed use can be tricky for more than simple things. I'm a lefty, so anything on the top right screen is essentially out of reach.

It fits perfectly fine in my front jean pockets, and doesn't feel out of place or too big.

Performance:

As expected, pure android on this premium hardware is fluid.

Speakers:

Whoa! This was one of my favorite things right away. Sound is loud, crisp, and coming from the dual speakers sounds really really good. I'm used to having to root to increase the speaker volume on other devices, but I find myself down around 60-75% of the max for most applications on the nexus 6.

Camera:
Too early to give any real input, as all its been used for is to take pictures of the Nexus 5 to get it ready to sell.

Call Quality:
Calls are clear and crisp. I've never owned a moto phone, but this is what I expected given the reputation for their radios.

Battery Life:
Its way too early to give any input here.

I will preface this with some important information. I am for all intents and purposes a Motorola "fan boy", "sympathizer" and "apologist" ... I have had nothing but Motorola phones since the day the Atrix 4G was released in 2011. When the Nexus program gained some steam I promised myself I'd get a Nexus if Moto ever made one. Now all that said, I will try to be objective with this review. ;)

I picked it up on Saturday the 29th about Mid-day. I have had a couple days to get it set up and dialed in and a couple days of "regular use". I am not unlocked or rooted, it's the AT&T version 32GB Midnight blue, still "stock".

Design: This is more with regard to 5.0 Lollipop - phenomenal. I really like the upgrade it really is everything that was promised. I like the new features in the pull down menu, the new multi-tasking look and feel, material design overall is very pleasing to my eye. Additionally, the speed with which you can get to what you need is exceptional. I also like the ambient display but I came from the Moto X so that was to be expected.

Hardware: This is why I love Motorola. Solid feel, small bezels, wonderful screen, I love the button placement compared to the smaller Moto X, it was in my opinion very intuitive to place the buttons there where you can easily reach them while it's in hand. I do agree that I have bumped them accidentally once or twice while pocketing it. Hoping a case helps with that. The feel in hand is amazing the materials used are very pleasing and it feels like a premium flagship device. So far functionally it's been flawless, radios are wonderful for calls, WiFi and Bluetooth.

Size: Dude are you blind? It's freaking huge, get used to it, get over it, or move along and leave it for people that like it :D

Performance: It was reported that the encryption slows it down...I have not noticed this. IT SCREAMS.

Speakers: My wife has the HTC One M8 ... I WAS jealous. No more, this is hands down the most impressive sounding phone I have ever had anything to do with. I will probably sell my BT Speakers ....just don't need them anymore. You will not be disappointed with the sound this phone produces.

Camera: So far so good. Honestly I am not sure why people were not happy with it. I am getting good shots even in not so great lighting.

Call Quality: I touched on this in design but BAM, crisp clear and flawless. (Primary reason I have stayed with Motorola over the years, it's a phone first and dang they make great phones)

Battery Life: Averaging 20+ hours of (MY) normal use. I can't complain, it's double what I was getting out of my Moto X - and I do have the Moto 360 paired 24/7. (EDIT) - I vastly understated my battery life, I'm looking at an average closer to 36 hours at this point - and it blows my mind.

Overall impression: It will take some getting used to size wise, no doubt, but Motorola's intuitive design language makes it smaller feeling than it is in reality. I wanted the best phone for my money and I debated the Moto X 2014, the Nexus 6 and trying to get the international Moto Maxx. I do not regret my decision to pull the trigger when opportunity knocked and I found a Nexus 6 in store at my local AT&T. This truly is a spectacular device, thoughtful in it's design, exemplary performance, fantastic software all put together in a way that makes it a real pleasure to use. I think it's obvious this phone marks a fundamental shift in what Google is trying to do, both in design and marketing/sales - I for one am glad they went the route of showcasing their "best & brightest" in a true flagship phone with market leading specs and phenomenal hardware design.

Remember I warned you that I like me some Motorola.
NOW GO OUT AND GET YOU ONE, SERIOUSLY GET UP OFF YOUR DUFF AND GET IT, YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Maybe it's just me, but after about a week of using the Nexus 6, I'm not entirely sure I love it.

I had been using a Note 2 since launch day. Great phone, and at the time the specs were top-notch. I never felt it was lacking in anyway. I was due for an upgrade and made the tough decision of choosing the Nexus over the Note 4. The biggest reasons were the quick updates and the "ok google" command at any time. I use the phone in the car quite a bit, and that alone is very helpful.

Before I bought the N6, I used an LG G3 for about 2 weeks. It was very nice. I liked LG's skin, thought it was very pleasing to use and look at. Never had any glitches, never felt a lack of power, and the IR blaster was a really useful feature.

Now about a week into the Nexus and I feel like I've stepped backwards. The contacts app in Lollipop doesn't allow me to search through groups. At the end of a call, I don't get the prompt to add the number to contacts, message the person, or call the person right back, or view the contact page. Big pain in my line of work as I very frequently will hang up with a client and need to text or e-mail them immediately following.

I don't like the double pull down menu. Maybe it wouldn't be a consideration if the phone wasn't as tall, but I don't think it's necessary to have to make two long gestures just to get to the features I want.

I wish they would have kept tabs in the Chrome browser. I'm not flipping through 20 recent/open apps to find the website I was on an hour ago. Same goes for the rest of that feature for recent apps. Just open what I was on last.

Materials design seems so boring and basic. There's no "ooh, ah" feeling to it. I'd probably consider it what smartphone OS would have looked like years ago before developers found a way to make them look cool.

Maybe it's just my phone, but about 50% of the time when I tap on a direct dial widget, nothing happens. Another 10% of the time, it will begin a call but takes several seconds to do anything. I have the same problem getting a call placed from the dialer or recent calls list. Very frustrating.

I miss some of the camera tricks from my (2 year old!) Samsung. No slow motion, etc? Plus, I seem to remember being pretty wow'd by the G3's camera. The Nexus' seems to be below that standard.

I'm tempted to trade it in for a Note 4, try it out for a week or two, or just go back to a G3. Anyone else having these thoughts? Any other phone I've had in the last 4-5 years, my first day was spent being unable to pull my eyes from it. Not so with the N6. It seems to be 'just there'.

Thanks for the tip about the tabs. I'm definitely going to use that.

What about adding apps to the lockscreen? I didn't find a way to do that. Helpful when I want to snap a picture without opening the phone all the way.

I've got until Monday to decide if I'm keeping this phone or trying another out. Typically I've been a sucker for having the latest and greatest specs and hardware, which is why I didn't keep the G3. Maybe phones have just gotten to the point that they're surpassing my requirement of their power and I can be happy with a 'lesser' model.

I ordered a N6 from AT&T the day they were available on att.com. It arrived on a Thursday and by Sunday I was at my local AT&T store trading it for a black Note 4. I love my N7 and enjoyed my N5 while I had it, but the N6 didn't do it for me. For all of the negativity directed towards TouchWiz it's actaully not bad at all. It's much better looking than plain vanilla 5.0 android.

TouchWiz is like the Yankees ... you either love 'em to death with their logo tattooed on your ... um ... arm ;) , or you hate their guts with the passion of Captain Ahab. There is no middle ground.

Lock screen ... if you swipe diagonally up from the lower right you open the camera, if you swipe up from the lower left, it's the dialer. Go into settings>display>daydream and you can select a few options there. If you want the Kitkat lockscreen i think you'll need a replacement app and abandon lock screen notifications.
