A 9-Volt Battery Is All This Tiny Charger Needs To Revive Your Phone

So you just have to find a 9volt battery now, instead of a power outlet. Think the only thing that really uses that sort of battery these days is smoke detectors. 9volt batteries used to be for transistor radios, but who uses one of them these days?

I think my kids toys use them, but yeah, they're not very popular any more. Everything is AA or AAA.

Still, it's a novel idea.

the beauty of this little device is that if you are roaming the city and run out of juice there are 7-11s and convenience stores and corner markets and gas stations on every corner. i went on a 24 hour bender last week and my phone died the next day. this would've saved me. no need to carry around a bulky extra battery and cable OR have to worry about keeping it charged! you have this tiny little emergency jumper cable on your keychain that you forget about but is always with you - until you need it! think about being in the bar at 3am and your phone dies and you get separated from your friends and they're your ride home. grab a 9 volt battery at the corner store or gas station or wherever and you're instantly operational and mobile! it's happened to me. grab one! great peace of mind for only $17!

we are at about $15K/$30K with 25/30 days to go!

9 volt battery - these are the square batteries you find in smoke alarms, they’re about as widely available as chocolate bars.

I'm actually in rural northern China, Inner Mongolia. Far more likely to find packets of chicken feet or beef jerky to chew on. :D Some toys do use them.

I presume it's going to be made in China, like so many things these days. What about availability of this device here? Because if it's US only, that's not much use to me.

This would be another device I would have to carry around. It's small and convenient, but it would mean keeping it with my phone somehow. Maybe on a key chain or something like that. It looks much bulkier than any of the keys I have on my key pouch. I carry a pouch for my keys.

I don't see myself getting one of these. I would already be carrying around a wall charger with me. I also have a car charger in my car. So far that has been enough. The last time I was caught without a charger and low battery, it wasn't convenient for me to run to a store to buy a battery.

So far, I just think that a larger battery built into the phone is the best way to go. To bad phone manufacturers are unwilling to increase the thickness of their phones. I'm going to lay partial blame on consumers who choose to buy thin phones.
