I just want to know if it is safe to clear data from an app.

I have the electrify, suppose to be 16g but when I got it was showing 8g available. When I asked why I was told because of all the pre-loaded apps. Well.. not being tech savvy at all.. I have no clue what I can and cannot delete off my phone.

I clean out my cache and cookies but was wondering if it is safe/adviseable to also clear out the data.

Also.. if you have an electrify and know what I can delete.. please let me know. I did get rid of the Amazon crap but it did not bring my memory up at all. Thanks.

Welcome to Phandroid Forums!

The Electrify is a wonderful phone. When you go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, you will be given a list of applications that are installed on your device (not including system applications that require the phone to run). If you find that any of these apps do not suit your liking, simply click the application name and press Uninstall on the next page. However, because they are installed to the phone via your service provider, some applications may not be able to be removed.

The Clear Data feature is as blaxican25 described. It erases any saved data it collected from user interactions (i.e. progress, settings, etc.). In the event you find yourself wanting to restart a game or an application and put it back to its stock setting, this is what you would do.

As for the data in the Electrify, the 16GB is the whole phone. You only see up to 9GB in your Media Area (the partitioned drive that holds application data) and up to 3GB in the Downloaded section. Typically, if an application has the ability to be moved to the Media Area, I recommend you do so. Not only will it make room in your phone's main storage drive, but also allow the application to operate better. To check to see if you can move an application to the Media Area, go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, click the app you want to check and next to Clear Data is the button 'Move to Media Area.'

Hope you're enjoying your Electrify!
