Under your bed
If you've been fancying a new Moto X, but haven't yet committed to the purchase, you might want to wait a few more days: Motorola announced that it will be selling the unlocked second-generation Moto X for $140 off this coming Monday as part of its Cyber Monday promotion. That brings the price down to $359 for a 16GB model (or $409 for the 32GB version)

Heads up everyone!!!

I just re-read my email from Moto. I don't see anywhere that it is just for the 16GB (except for the $.01 on contract, that would make sense). Every time I recall them having such a sale it's been for either/or, I got a Developer Editon ('13) through such a deal.

If I were you'd I'd try to get a code and see if it works on a 32GB, I'm betting it will.

The FAQ page says "You will be charged the regular, non-discounted cost for additional memory and/or premium back (leather, bamboo, wood) you decide to select. Other types of accessories, like cases, headsets and battery packs, are eligible for the 30% discount."

It is worth a try I guess. Personally I am planning on going with the 16GB model because I don't use a lot of apps.

Yeah, but I think that means the $50 or whatever it is, then you still get the discount off the total. You build your phone, get charged for any additional choices then take the $140 off. That's the way they've done it in the past at any rate. I guess we'll know soon enough.

Makes sense. Do you recall how long the deal was up for? I am worried about not getting it.

I'd suggest sitting on the site, ready to go and as soon as it goes live start hitting enter. These types of promos tend to bring the site down and go (end) fast. They will only offer so many and there will be a ton of folks trying to score one. All I can say is good luck!!

Thanks! Definitely planning on having the page open in my browser right at 11am CT. If I don't get it I'll probably just go with the Nexus 5.

I'm on VZW and have unlimited data. Is it correct to assume that buying the $.01 deal would kill the unlimited data (even if this is a Moto offer)? Would paying the off-contact discounted price be an option even for VZW accounts?
What phone do you have now? I've read threads that say if you just pop your old SIM it *may* let you keep your unlimited. If you have to activate the new SIM then, in all likelihood, you will lose your unlimited. Try using the Verizon account manager online, don't go to a store...
But, in general, yes to both of your questions. If you buy a subsidized phone then you will lose unlimited. If you buy a non-subsidized phone (full retail/Swappa/Craigslist etc.) you will most definitely be able to keep it.
