Root [ROM][AOKP v4.4][KITKAT] AOKP for the LG Spectrum

No updates is probably because this device is basically dead. Most of us have moved on to better phones. Sad to say.

You moved on to newer phones. Specification-wise, I doubt anyone has moved onto much better (with the exception of GS5/OneXM8). Between sealed phones with no expansion, and no replaceable batteries, I haven't seen much better HARDWARE. Too bad LG can't offer a factory version of android worth a fork.

And since KitKat versions are still being provided for the phone, I doubt you can declare it dead anytime soon.

Some of use don't want to pay $600 for a new phone to keep our unlimited data plans, or downgrade to tiered data for a subsidy.

I suspect that most of you will probably think I am crazy for saying this, but I may just hold onto this phone for a while. From what I have heard about newer phones out there, (the thought of non-removable batteries bothers me), I just don't know.
I'm a little old fashioned, however, I am receptive to change. But I always keep in mind that these devices all started out essentially as a method to speak to someone, not watch movies, take pictures?, etc. I am thankful for these options, but really, just how much more can they improve? And just how much of a difference will those improvements make to the user experience?
Perhaps a processor that can do a calculation a half a second faster? For instance, I never understood why anyone would want to watch a movie on a 3-4 inch screen. One thing I really do appreciate is the ability to read a book, and have hundreds of them at my fingertips. That is just something I still wonder at every day when I read another chapter.
Long story short, in my limited experience (this is my first android phone), I've seen how the entire contract experience goes, and I can't see shelling out wads of cash for what I see as essentially minor changes. AND I suspect, more costly bloat injected into the device so the carrier can make even MORE money.
I am eternally grateful to those in this forum that helped me so much to understand how my device works, and giving me the chance to tailor it to my wants and needs. (I LOVE being able to delete all of the crap put on my device without my say so. )

SO, three cheers to all the devs out there that are STILL hammering away at making a better experience for those of us out here that still like and want to use our device.

Yep no more contract servitude for me either. Either T-mobile fixes LTE in my area and I go with them, or VZW gives me an incentive for staying a customer in the form of discounted service or phones. Only way I am giving up my unlimited out of contract service is cheaper service.

Everything that can be done on a phone, can be done on a Nook HD/HD+ far better, so I only really care about voice quality, speed of interface, and WiFi tether. Oh and a removable battery.

That's a shame. I haven't been here for a while, but I still have my spectrum, for a while anyway. I came into this game late, so I probably have the spectrum for another year or so. Due to the advice and cooperation of many of you, I've personally learned more than I thought I ever would about android. But I suppose the old saying is true....."good things don't last forever".....
My father would agree as to the integrity of the members and developers in this forum (he's pictured on my posts). Just can't say enough about all of you out there in android land....

My girlfriend and I still use our Spectrums. Nothing out there has really tripped my trigger. The only possible ones are the G3 and the Nexus 6. The G3 is basically a no go for me as I stand by my statement of not buying a locked bootloader phone from LG again and I'm not fond of the no SD card on the Nexus 6. With that being said, I'll probably need to move on soon as I've logged 3 years on this phone and it's showing it's age (damn, has it been that long already?). When I do, I'll be sad, but which ever community gets my attention at that point will have one hell of a troubleshooter. I just have no desire to work on CM for the Spectrum anymore and with the state of CM (the company, not the ROM) , I'm not sure if I'd want to continue working with it. I hope TDM is doing well, but I have a feeling that corporate life swallowed him hole.

Hello Neph! Hope you and yours are doing well!!! I tend to agree with you. I understand the attraction; that some people have to have the latest and greatest(?) new device. However, when I consider everything I'VE learned here, (I knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about android) I remember when I joined this forum, and think about how much fun (right, LOL) it must have been to circumvent the locked boot-loader on the Spectrum. So it is clear to me why you wouldn't want to relive that experience.
I have thought about it a little, and at this point I really can't think of a reason to move on to another device. My Spectrum does everything I want it to. I guess I am too old fashioned (and just old) to get excited about the newer phones out there. Cost is another factor. But when you get right down to it, I have, on my computer, all the files and programs I need to manipulate my device, and can change things around enough to keep it interesting. All of you did that for me, and I cannot thank you all enough for the experience. I just wish I had been here from the beginning.......
