droid turbo or galaxy S5?

Hey all I've had a Motorola droid razr maxx hd for two years. Time to upgraxe. I'm leaning towards the droid turbo or the galaxy S5. The only thing is the droid no longer supports an sd card. I know the droid has a bigger battery bigger specs. I can get the S5 for 49.00 and the turbo is 199.00. Is there a huge drop off from the turbo to the S5 ? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Happy holidays!

I have the Turbo currently and I also have a S5 (work phone) I will be using the S5 for the next week or so.. I have noticed that I prefer vanilla (or close to) android over the Touchwiz. It could be more what I am use to. I don't store a ton of stuff on my phone other than pictures.. I bought the 64GB Turbo and I think I should be fine with it. The Turbo while it is a bit heavier seems to be more solid than the S5.

I also am not sure I like the physical button at the bottom of the S5.

For me, I would do the 64GB Turbo

I went through the same debate before settling on the Turbo. The number one separator is battery life. I don't like the feeling of panic when my battery is down to 10% and it's, say, 8:00 o'clock at night and you have to ration the use of your phone. You'll never get that feeling with the Turbo.

I don't like TouchWiz or the back button on the S5. The S5 is loaded with Samsung software, most of it I doubt I'd ever use, but might be fun to play around with. The Turbo has useful software features like Moto Actions and Moto Voice. For example, you can use a custom spoken phrase to wake your phone and perform actions without touching it. I amaze my friends by doing Google searches with the phone in my pocket. "Obey me Droid Turbo" is my custom wake-up phrase.

The S5 supposedly has a better camera, and this was the one feature which almost swayed me. However, I see the same complaints about the camera in both forums--slow shutter and blurry low light photos, so I went with the Turbo. There are more settings on the stock S5 camera than the stock Moto camera, but an aftermarket app can correct that on the Turbo.

The Turbo has got a high quality feel to it. Built like a tank. The S5 seems flimsy and lightweight in the hand. Go to the store pick them up and compare them. You'll be handling your phone for the next two years. What do you want to feel when you pick up your phone?

Motorola has become a leader for pushing out OS updates quickly. Samsung is a known laggard in this area. I'm sure Moto will release Lollipop for the Turbo much sooner than Samsung will for the S5. Lollipop also promises improvements in camera.

I went from my s5 to my droid turbo... I wouldn't even consider going back to the galaxy s5. Don't get me wrong, I loved my s5, but the droid turbo is better in almost ever way. I love the extra weight the turbo has, it just feels better. I had the s view flip case on my galaxy, and I have the flip case from Motorola on my droid turbo... The flip case on the droid actually feels like it would protect my phone in a fall. I like that the s view case replaced the back cover of the phone, but it also meant that if you ever dropped the phone then chances were they were going to fall apart. I'm a Motorola fan though, so my opinions are probably a little biased...

Id go with the Galaxy S5, better display and camera.

Display is from Samsung and Motorola are getting sloppy seconds so don't expect the same quality or it to age well. (burn-in)

2560*1440 is a waste of time on a 5.2" display, makes no sense. If Motorola went with a 1080p display and Snapdragon 805 the performance would be great but they didn't so it's comparable to every other high smartphone.

But it depends, if your only considering battery life and stock Android then you have to go with the Droid Turbo.
