Root [CDMA] Tutorial :- boost moto g WiFi tether

Sorry to dredge this one back up but I just picked this phone up yesterday and got it rooted and recovery installed last night. Ran in to the age old issue of my favorite tether program not working, so I ran in to this thread.

Tried every method described here with no luck. Using SQL Lite Editor didn't do anything. Editing the build prop surprising reverted itself upon reboot of the phone regardless of hitting save on the editor program.

Tried installing the script since my phone is on that specific update with no luck. Clockwork mod reported that it had to abort due to the script being for an "xt1031, falcon_cdma" and said in the next line This is a "xt1034"

I'm clueless on this. Could anyone help please?

If you are on a Boost Mobile Moto G, try using the cwm recovery from this thread

How to Install CyanogenMod on the Motorola Moto G ("falcon") - CyanogenMod

Someone else recently had the issue of the device reporting it was an xt1034 and this fixed it.

I redid the flashable hotspot fix so it will work with any version of the stock rom. It no longer replaces build.prop, instead it edits the line in place. If the line does not exist (ie. custom roms, etc.), no change will be made. This will avoid problems if someone flashes it on a custom rom without knowing it is unnecessary. Enjoy!

@hitesh123 Please update the OP with the new flashable as I have removed the download that is currently linked. Thanks!

Actually this method isn't needed for stock, all you havta do is use your file explorer with root capability and navigate to /system directory and open up build.prop in a text editor and find ro.mot.tether_dun_required=1 (It's located under ADDITIONAL BUILD PROPERTIES towards the bottom of the script) and change the 1 to a 0 and then save build.prop after the change and reboot and your native wifi hotspot will work perfectly... :p

I have a kyocera hydro edge on boost, jellybean, rooted with framaroot. No custom rom. Using a file explorer, I found build.prop in System folder, but I am trying to find ro.mot.tether_dun_required=1, and it is not in that file under ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES when I open it in a text editor.. Any suggestions? Should I add it? I will wait for a response. Thank you.

Hey guys,

I just downloaded SuperR's zip to flash for the wifi tether on my Boost Moto G (flashed to Page Plus). I used CWM's "install zip" to apply it and it looks like it went through. I am able to start the tether and can connect to it from my laptop however I don't have internet and there are a couple things I'm noticing:

1) Despite a WPA2 password being set in the tethering options, I am not prompted to enter one when I connect (I changed the SSID and password and this did not help)

2) I always get an IP address of "192.168.43.6" when I connect to the hotspot

EDIT: actually, now when I browse it still says that the phone is not setup to be used as a modem or mobile hotspot. Any idea on what else I need to do to fix this?

Did I apply the zip incorrectly? Or does this not work if I flashed the phone to work on PP/VZW or something?

It works with Boost Mobile service, not sure about anything else. Sorry

That's because that line doesn't exist in your phone the mot likely is short for Motorola. You should be looking for something else this line of code is specific to moto.

I install CWM11 and sharing was possible with no
changes at all I just enable the hotspot
mode DONE!!
CMW is only recovery, you must had installed CM11 which is custom rom, and in most custom rom, everything is unlocked (mostly), that's why it is called custom rom.

Do I need a CWM not a stock ROM from Boost?
you need stock recovery for zip method, and root for sql database edit method.

Finally got WiFi tether working on Boost Moto G.
For this we require following things.

Tutorial 1 - for non boost users using boost moto g without activation on boost.
Tutorial -2 for actual boost user check below quot by SuperR

1- rooted Boost Moto G
2- SQL lite editor installed.

To root your phone, you can follow bootloader unlock thread in Motorola section.

Now ones you are rooted and ready with SQL lite editor installed.

Open SQL lite editor and grant root access.

Then scroll down to OMADMClient_Sprint_Data service
