I currently have a sprint s4 and as soon as the s5 goes to free out the door I will re-up my contact again. Just a question before I do this though, can it be rooted with towelroot, and if it's anything like the s4 it will need a specific firmware, what version firmware version on sprint would I need of that's the case??

find SM-G900P (S5 Sprint) - d/l the file, flash with ODIN. (it's even included in zip package from there) you will have root with SuperSU app installed. PM if you have any ?

I downloaded this CF Auto Root for the Sprint S5 and try to run it in Odin, Odin recognizes my device but when I click start it fails after the "NAND Write Start" part.

I've tried using Kies but the newer version says it is not compatible and the old version does not recognize my device. Any ideas?!

oh f**k! seems Sprint has also locked BL. that's why you can't flash.. so, you phone boots normally or what?
1st, get latest fw and flash with ODIN. Firmwares | SamMobile tap there into search box sm-g900p (the one which is not on top, there are written "search device here", not just "search"). you need a free registration to get d/l link, too.
flash process is the same - in odin click ap/pda button to select fw file. do not touch anything other!
