Problem 1.

I have just bought a Moto G 2nd gen today & I used MyPhoneExplorer to import my data (sms/contacts/calendar/call logs) from a Galaxy Grand i9082. After doing so I find that in contacts (phonebook) the birthdays & anniversaries have not been imported & in some cases even ‘Notes’ in contacts. I find this strange as I have used this s/w from my Sony Ericsson K750I then migrated my data to a Samsung Galaxy Ace 5830 (Gingerbread) with no loss of data then onto a Galaxy Grand. But now on migrating to a Moto G running 4.4.4 I am stuck with this problem.

Problem 2.

Is there any way I can keep my calendar entries only on my phone AND NOT synced with my google a/c. if this is not possible then is there any other app that I can use as a substitute which can sync with MyPhoneExplorer and keep data locally.

Sorry if this seems a rehash of an old problem :)

Problem 1: Instead of using MyPhoneExplorer, have you tried going into your old phone contacts, go to the menu, and then "export to sd card". This will generate a VCF file which you can then transfer to your new phone (either via bluetooth or thru a pc or moving it via sd/microsd card). Once VCF file is transferred, on your new phone you can go to "contacts" and then import the VCF file.

Problem 2: Go to phone/system settings -> account/sync -> turn off "auto-sync data"

Alternative (a more unstable way): If you are rooted, you can uninstall the "Google Calendar Sync" file which is located in the "system/app/GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk". If you take this approach, it may cause force close of dependent apps, be sure to wipe davlik cache and reboot phone afterwards.

Hope this helps.

@spunky168 I tried that for Problem 1 but what I have noticed is that many of the entries which were present in my older (Galaxy Grand i9802) phones don't seem to be present in Moto G eg Bday, Anniversaries . So it does not help. Thanks for making time to sort out my problems. :)

I could not find auto sync option but I deselected all except App Data, unfortunately there was no separate Calendar option.

There is 1 other option (though I can't vouch if it will work or not). Copy the "Contacts" and 'Contacts Storage" apps (I think they are called SecContacts_OSup.apk and SecContactsProvider.apk) in the "system/priv-apps/" from your old phone and then place the apk files in the same folder in your new phone. When you place the app in the folder, it will automatically install them. If it installed successfully, it will show up on your phone. Import the old VCF file with the old contact app.

Usually the "contact" apps vary slightly from different versions of google OS and also phone makers so this method may or may not work. If it doesn't you can always go back and delete the two old apks from the system/priv-app folder. If it works, you can then delete the Moto G version of "contact/people"
