Help RazrM stuck on boot animation, not reading on USB

Hi all. I have a bone-stock Razr M, the only mod is that I've unlocked the radio to accept a T-Mobile SIM. It started having an issue where it starts up, the boot animation starts playing with sound, then a couple seconds in the sound shuts off but the animation continues to the glowy idle portion, and stays there until the phone runs out of battery.

I booted into recovery and did a factory reset, as well as trying to flash original ROMs for Blur_Version.98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US and Blur_Version.77.111.10.XT907.Verizon.en.US. Both erred with a message about fingerprints not matching, could that be because the phone is not rooted?

I also set the phone into fastboot mode and tried to run the Motorola fastboot to flash a recovery image that way, but fastboot doesn't see the device; I tried this on three machines, including a Win7 machine with just USB2 ports, since I heard that USB3 can be an issue.

Unfortunately I don't know what my original ROM version is, and don't know how to query it since I can't get the phone to a screen that displays it. However I do remember it wanting to install an update for the last month or two and I kept saying "Install Later", since my phone was working fine and maybe someday wanted to root it.

I suspect that the USB port is not working beyond being able to charge the phone, and thusly I am screwed. I'm guessing my only hope is a stock ROM that my phone will accept in recovery mode, however most of the links I found to download these are dead. Any tips before I chuck it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there and welcome to the site. I'll try to help as best as I can. I have a couple of questions and then some sort of answers.

First off, the questions. How long after doing the T-Mobile hack did your phone start acting up? Please tell me exactly which method (with links) that you used to perform the hack.

Now a couple of answers. Your failed attempts to flash the files you mentioned while in recovery are possibly related to the fact that that you did the above hack, depending again on how exactly you did it. And the failures could also be related to the fact that your phone is not rooted and the bootloader is probably still locked. Yes, the bootloader locking on Motorola devices is a real farking pain in the butt.

The above failures and the failure of your PC 'seeing' your phone could just also be a driver issue. Also as you have found, USB v3 will not work. At least you can charge your phone.

I will stop for now and try to do some more research and wait for your answers to the questions I asked. I have a few files on my server but the new forum format has killed my old signature. I would post it, but I will still wait for some more info from you.

Hi teddyearp, thanks for the quick and thorough reply. I applied the T-Mobile hack using Radiocom and instructions like this link or something extremely similar, it was many months and was working fine for several months before this issue came up:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542

I also downloaded the Motorola Device Manager to get proper USB drivers, etc. If this weren't working or not installed at all, I would normally expect the phone to at least show up as an Unkown USB device in Win7, however this has not happened, it doesn't seem to register at all.

The bootloader is locked as far as I know, when I go into fastboot it says as much ("Device is LOCKED, Status code: 0").

Well, thank you for the completeness of your answer. You definitely used the best guide for the T-Mob hack, cellzealot doesn't post junk and has been doing that type of stuff for about ten years or so.

What is odd is that the drivers you used for the hack should still work for everything else. I am suspecting that there may be something else going on with your phone since it has been a few months. Maybe the battery is going kaput.

Try going to my folder for the razrm here:

http://ted.servepics.com/razrm

there is a subfodler for the drivers, try those first and s\let's at least see if we can get that going for you.

p.s. I may ahve a bit of a handicap trying to help you as my razrm is bootloader unlocked so I will not be able to enter stock recovery, etc., but I will do my best.

OMG I could cry from joy and pain. My phone is fixed using this guide:

http://mrbluecoat.blogspot.com/2014/07/tutorial-restore-verizon-droid-razr-m.html

Turned out the USB cable I was using was from a portable battery power pack, so wasn't actually functional for making a real data connection. ARGH! Once I fixed that, I was able to get fastboot going and flash it with the stock 4.4.2 image.

Sorry for the red herring, however I would have given up if not for your responses. Thank you!!

PS If you have recommendations for rooting/unlocking guides, would love to hear about it :)

Don't worry about th ered herring, I'm just glad that you got your problem fixed. And if my replies were helpful if only to give you hope, then I guess I did help anyways, hehe.

Try this guide here, but know that your software version MUST match and if your phone's software version is just a bit past that version it will NOT work and do not bother asking that is why the thread has been closed there. that site isn't quite as friendly as this one.
