Help Verizon goofed and let me keep phone.

So here is my quick rundown.
I did a plan upgrade today for the verizon edge program. We were told that our phone we had was going to "traded in". So we had to do some file transfers which took almost 2 hours, and we left it there while it was transferring. Came back to pick it up, and they handed me both phones. Am I gonna get charged for my old phone?

Yes... you'll probably be charged as a trade-in and not for the Edge program.

But... even if they goofed and let you keep your phone, you should bring it in and return it. That "mistake" may seem like free money to you, and hey - Verizon is a billion dollar company that can afford a couple hundred bucks - but you could also be costing someone else their job that made the mistake.

I'd suggest returning the phone, not only because you could otherwise be charged full price, but also cause it's the right thing to do.

Take it back jack,

If you don't, you will get charged for it, and a sales rep just might loose their job.

Well I'm just speaking personally here (not on behalf of AF) but I'd keep it for a couple of months, checking it with your sim card to make sure it hasn't been blacklisted n, if not, sell it

The wheels of justice, and large corporations, turn slowly and not always in a straight direction. What happens three days after the OP sells it to some guy on eBay that Verizon discovers the error, charges his account for the device and blacklists the imei/esn? Not saying it would happen, but it could happen and that would be a triple whammy.

I'd let Verizon know. Maybe call the store where you "traded" it in and innocently say "Hey, i just noticed that I still had my old phone even though i was supposed to have traded it in. Do you guys still want it?" If the trade-in was just a marketing ploy or they get nothing from the phone itself they might just tell you to keep it, especially if is wasn't one of their phones in the first place. If they need it back to validate the deal, take it back. Many times when corporations goof like this they try to offer the customer something for the inconvenience.
