Root [Verizon] Lollipop and rooting

I have Lollipop on a Nexus 7 (WiFi). It's got some nice features but after seeing it, I'm not "hair on fire" ready to lose root to have Lollipop. NTL, what's the current status of Lollipop on VZW S5's and, equally important, restoring root after the update to Lollipop?

I've owned an S5 for a few weeks now, and it would seem as though there are not that many other S5 users out there. These forums have been pretty barren. Not many custom roms. The phone must not be that popular.

I know this does not answer your question, but maybe it helps explain why you have not received an answer.

Um, there are a lot of VZW S5's out there. The problem is centered on the fact VZW hasn't released Lollipop for the S5. It's just begun to show up in Europe so I wouldn't expect to see it in the States for a few weeks. Factor in finding someone to take on the job, do it, and get it out... My guess is February at the earliest.

I'm currently in Germany so I couldn't do the OTA if I wanted to (wrong phone type, so wrong image). I don't want to because I'd probably lose root, and that's a non-negotiable requirement.

Likely it is just that there are very few s5 owners hanging around these forums then. I am sure there are plenty of s5 owners out there. I posted 3-4 questions around here since coming to own my phone, and have received mostly crickets in reply. It was a bit of a shock, coming from other forum experiences. I looked at the huge number of phones represented in this forum, and I thought maybe this place was just spread a bit too thin. Then I went looking for custom roms for this phone, and had similar thoughts. I know, there is more to it then that though...

Or it could be the S5 just isn't a common target for modding. Anyway, not much is happening with Lollipop for the S5 until the VZW S5 version's released.
