T-Mobile's Jump Program

Just ordered the Nexus 6 and received a text from T-Mobile saying I was enrolled in their JUMP program. I do see myself upgrading annually so I ask you guys, is the JUMP program a good idea considering my upgrade plans?

Thanks,
Bryan

When I joined Jump, I could upgrade in six months. Not sure if they have changed their policy but it seems it hasn't: http://www.t-mobile.com/phone-upgrade.html You just have to pay off half of your phone if you want to upgrade.

It includes insurance so that is a plus. For a yearly upgrade, it is hard to say. Do you need insurance? Premium Lookout is also included.

Don't forget that you have to trade in your current phone to them. If you're okay with paying for half of your phone and giving it back, then it's an okay deal. If you're like me and buy/sell phones fairly often, it's not.

I bought a new in the box Sprint Note 3 a little over a year ago for $500 and just sold it for $300, so I "lost" $200. In your case you would have paid half of the $700 retail to JUMP, so you would have lost $350. Also, if they determine that there is any damage to your trade in phone, you will have to pay your $175 deductible to get it fixed before they will accept it.

I have JUMP - and love it because I like new tech - so I'll upgrade twice a year. I would get the insurance anyway. The one thing I didn't see mentioned is that it also includes Lookout Premium, which, I believe is like $3 or $4/mo.

I'm eligible for an upgrade in 3 weeks, and am torn between the Note 4, and the Nexus 6. Do I still have the 14-day return? I'm assuming "yes", but have never had the need.

Jump is really for those who like to upgrade/change phones often, like twice a year (6 months) I can get two phones for the price of one with jump. You could say get the Note 4 now then jump to the galaxy S6 in say 4 months. Just pay of 50% of the note 4 then get the S6 and start over again. No reselling on craigslist or eBay necessary. Just walk in with note 4 and walk out with S6. Also insurance is included that covers theft, damage etc

So if your going to keep a phone for a year or more, Jump isn't really a good option.
