Not exactly sure what I am doing wrong, but when I go to use RSD light with the SBF it keeps failing on me.

"failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file. (0x7029) Phone connected.

Any ideas?

** Finally figured it out shortly after this post. I guess the RSD was out dated and I picked a different SBF but running it on XP I finally got it working. The only issue I have yet to figure out is why after using the z4root and installing rom manager why am I still unable to install roms? Phone reboots I get the Motorola icon and then it goes into clock recovery. Saw a post about going into Droid X Bootstrap and hit bootstrap recovery but still did not work.

What else am i forgetting?

Please help!!!

I have a droid x and was flashing a new ROM (which I think I flashed incorrectly, as in I flashed what I thought was a ROM but actually wasn't). I can get to the Clockwork Recovery (by pressing volume up and power) however when I choose to wipe the phone I get an error. When I say to wipe the cache I also get a similar error. I tried using SBF (the FROYO Droid X build) and RSDLite (I am able to get to the boot loader menu, by pressing camera, volume down, power). After running RSDLite, correctly (I have done it before) everything works up until the reboot. It gives me a progress percentage as if it is working until it gets to 100%, where it stays at 100% for hours. In the entire reboot process, my phone flashes the boot logo, turns off, flashes the boot logo, turns off, etc. This also happens anytime I try to turn it on.

Please, help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'[

I'm reading up on how to root my DroidX with 2.3.34 and I want to know which methods work with which Android versions. Is there a listing for this info? Also, my phone says it has an update 4.5.596 downloaded and ready to install. What version is that... it's not in the same sequence? Should I install it?

All I really want is wireless tethering, I don't care about other root features, but it looks like root is needed for wireless tethering now.

Hey New to this forum,
I don't know what the heck my phone is in state of right now. It is Droid X and I was on Apex(Workig fine) trying for CM7, but something went wrong. Now when I turn on my phone oddly it has the Google boot logo and after two seconds turns off and shows the Boot logo, and keeps doing this until my phone dies. Now I tried to SBF but RSD won't even recognize my phone it is blank for device and when i turn it on.....Nothing

I am so(XInfiniti) scared right now...I am shaking my entire life is on that phone. I have the file for APEX and would love to go back to it....since I don't want to root.....so can anyone please help me......Please........

Welcome to AF. Your phone is in a bootloop. It was caused by flashing the CM7 rom which is based on Froyo from Apex which is Gingerbread based. I hope your "entire life" is at least on the sd card

cause then it's all still there and won't be harmed during the sbf process.

If your phone has a good charge, load into bootloader mode (hold down camera and volume down and then press power button) and try using the Linux disc to sbf. It's really easy to use and comes in handy should you ever need to sbf again. This is the link to the instructions.

Linux solution to your Windows/RSD lite problems

There is a pre-rooted version of .602 there or standard nonrooted versions. Whichever version you choose to go with, make sure to check the MD5. That's just a way to verify that the file you downloaded isn't corrupt or anything. There are plenty of free programs that can check the MD5. Just do a quick search.

3 rules for rooted phones:
1. Backup apps and data
2. Verify Backup
3. Backup apps and data

It's a good idea to always backup everything after you've rooted your phone. Making a nandroid is also a good idea. That way, data isn't completely lost should something like this happen. There are many ways to do that. I personally use Titanium Backup.

I have an older rooted version of 2.3.3 on my phone, and it doesn't run very well. Can I SBF using the .602 file, or would i have to use an older SBF file?

You can use any sbf file you want. They are not version dependant. Just stay away from the 621 version.
